Perhaps you think there would be too much contrast between the dark siding and the white trim. Why not look at gray colors that match the stone? The Miller Paint site recommends Turkish Tower or Fossilized as coordinating colors for Gropious Gray. Neither will be as contrasting as a white.

I like the darker gray tone. the one midshift posted is nice, but I think it's rather bland and will all meld together.

I like more of a contrast with the darker tones. like this one. except I'd bring in some cedar or some other type of slat wood. maybe a composite wood, or composite wood shingles in the gables. I just think these dark tones need a wood compliment.

just to give you an idea, here's a charcoal siding, varied grays in the stone, and a white trim.

If you find one that's more black, looks like this. bring in some natural wood accents to really set it off

Your stone doesn't take up too much real estate, so don't be afraid to go w/something w/a bit more punch to it.

some other color combos. not sure about that darker gray your builder picked. can he paint a sample for you so you can compare w/the stone?

@Melissa R, those renditions are so helpful! I agree with @Beth H that some wood element needs to be added to a dark grey house. The play of colors with the stone had more options than your builder proposed, as Beth’s photos prove. Take your time to BE SURE of the colors outside. Do you like the builder’s suggestions?

I like the dark suggestion a lot.
But I’m also thinking maybe try a light color.
Like plain white. I think it might let the stone shine and is a more neutral palette for you to work off of.

I would love to do some sort of wood/cedar accent. Was thinking around the one window that currently has no siding (ironically) but have had some push back from the builder, making me feel it would not match the look/style of the home. Also wish i would have ordered a stainable wood front door, but that has been on order for months unfortunately.

Anyone have any thoughts of a darker trim but not a white house, which seems like is the common solution for black windows.

Not to be mean, but builders often have little or no design talent. He’s just trying to get this house built and on to the next one. This is a color scheme he came up with and it’s easier to convince you to use it then re-imagine another one. You need to get the right colors the first time! Give yourself a moment to imagine the lighter colors if you need to. Do not ask builders and contractors for design help.

This is such a great comment. Unless you can paint often to keep up with trends a conservative approach always has longevity. imo the dark trend for exteriors is beginning to wane in my area.

why should someone go w/conservative? because white will always be in style? I'm sorry, but to me that's just riciulous. And safe. It's a home, live a little and get what you want. Who cares what is 'waning' in a particular area? For years I've been the only person on my entire block to paint their house w/color. Every single house is beige, brown and cream, with ugly yards. It's boring and depressing.

For 10 year I had my home in gold and cinnamon (spanish style homes) to match my terra cotta roof. I have beautiful landscaping w/lots of color. People would constantly remark on how pretty my home was.

Dark paint on homes have been around just as long as lighter colors. It's a matter of what the owner likes. Painting a home a dark gray w/white trim isn't like painting it pink and purple. Those colors are neutrals and will never 'wane'.

Besides, it's just paint. 10 years from now, repaint it in a diff color.

I too like the darker Cyberspace (but that color has a distinct blue/gray hue to is) and the bright white trim along w/the black.

Thunder Gray is actually very close to the gray your builder picked.

Tell your builder the colors YOU want and have it done the way YOU want. With the paint YOU want.

I have put a mock up together for you. I suggest you use the dark ledgestone Trek. It will ground the house. Then do the Gables in SW Cyberspace or similar dark color with white trim. Your black windows, Trek stone and dark siding will tie everything together. Then do a light Gray for remaining siding. Add same ledgerstone to base of porch pillars and wrap pillars with cedar stained a rust color. Front door in wood/cedar look too. Then add nice landscaping.

Do a multi tone gray paver driveway or at least edge it in pavers to tie in ledgerstone.

Colors don’t show up quite right so hope you can “see” it. Lol
