I would definitely do a brick and paint the house all one color. I think this would greatly improve the house and make it look bigger with uniformity. It would also hide the addition and make it look as though it had always been there. Vinyl siding can really be a negative for re-sale. I have it on the back side of our home and have plans to eventually stucco those parts to match our pool decking, cabana, etc. Imagine your home all brick and painted a nice creamy taupe color with new long shutters to compliment, a larger entrance/walkway with big urns and plantings to make it grander; your front door painted a diff. color to stand out (I would remove the storm door..just my preference. Oops..sorry I just realized I offered more suggestions than you asked for! Would definitely brick and paint though.

I do have this photo. It shows the Lanai/ Juliet Porch and the unfinished exterior of the addition. Above the garage door is the french doors leading to the Lanai (left) from the Master bedroom. The unfinished addition is now bricked the same as the house, and the two dormers are stucco-ed and painted brown. We will add limestone detailing in the peaks of the dormers as shown in one of the dormers on the front of the house, as well as trimboards around the window and doorway. That is a future project though.... =) I can add a current photo, however, the tree is fully leafed out now so there really is not much viewing of the Lanai/ Juliet Porch. But do let me know if that would help. Three D: sorry for my confusing post. This will probably make more sense to you now! Yes, we have a permit out for all of this work, but a neighbor called to complain that our lanai/ juliet porch did not have a railing so the city is wanting us to install one immediately even though no one obviously uses it with no railing. Kind of a CYA request on their part and when the city makes a request, well...we do it =) More info: we will need to have certain specifications for height and also no more than 4" between slats/ ballisters. I am most interested in any opinions of what styling we should look for to coordinate with the Tudor styling. Obviously, traditional tudors do not have porches so I have little to go on for ideas of what would look nice. Hubby prefers all metal; I have no idea what I would like other than something more ornate than just a plain deck railing. Thanks for any help! @decoenthusiaste LOL! I regretted the 'modern farmhouse' when I wrote it. I think I mean a monochrome look, darker overall, with siding, trim and fascia all one color. I am just not into the white highlighter outline look so many are doing. Want to be ahead of the trend and stand out. However, I am so afraid to get it 'wrong.' We did choose a roof color that pulls all the brick colors together. It's an overall medium to darker gray, with hints of warmth and black through. We would ideally like to avoid coating the brick. We would consider after, if it looks bad. We would really like to keep it and roll with it. The garage doors will be converted to one larger door, but yes, there is brick between, with a strip of hideous siding above currently. All to be redone. Unfortunately, we are headed into winter and the siding color needs to be selected this week, or we push to next year...and we just don't want to do that.

The brick is interesting and varied. The red roof is the problem since so much of it shows. The previous owners did a nice job of trimming the window with a dark red paint, and the siding color is actually nice. If you're going to replace the roof, change your paint out then. A warm darker brown roof would look great, then you could paint the house sage with the dark red trim. Visual tricks you can do now: --Paint the garage the same color as you have now. That way the brick and siding won't stand out so much. --Put two dark red Adirondack chairs on the porch and paint your front door and storm to match. --Go to a gardening center to have them design a deep, curvy bed for the front on the house with some deep red perennials (or a small red Japanese maple) and other perennials shrubs. It'll change the whole look of the house.
