Cooking for One -- and eating alone
Comments (26)We goto Dinner Done!!!! We do this as a couple and I go when my wife is away, so it does work for a single person!! Each month they have around 14 meal selections. At each station is a meal. Everything u need to make the meal is at that station. All cut up, fat trimmed off, correct measurement spoons in spices, super easy, no clean up!!!! Everythin gincluding the storage containers is there, included in the price!! Of course there are other companies that do this, we have just used this one!! And you can put how many servings into a package!! So its very convenient, and healthy!! Most are straight from the freezer to the oven!! as well its a great place to meet other people. A chicken breast meal, comes with 4 to 6 chicken breats. Each meal is suppose to feed bewtween 4 to 6 people. A minimum ordfer is 8 meal selections, and each meal gives 4 to 6 servings, so close to 48 single meals!!! Belive it works out to just over $3 a serving. We love it, makes suppers so much more relaxing, get to meet new people, and no clean up,lol. I have heard some of these companies do singles events!! Comments (23)Interesting thread... So hard to answer though. I enjoy so many foods it's hard to pick just one but I'll say to eat something like lasagna or chicken parmigiana- can't pass up anything with melted mozzarella and red sauce. To make is anything new that teaches me a new skill. Like the first time I made gnocchi or pasta from scratch. I love making new things and after I've done it a few times I generally don't enjoy making it again, unless I really want to eat it then I dont mind. To repeat is usually simple, sautéed green beans, and salmon. I used to make it a lot but now I won't eat farm raised salmon and the wild caught can be cost prohibitive. I've even found frozen Alaskan wild caught that was made in China, I won't buy that either. I'm assuming they catch it it Alaska and package in China....See More1 in 3 eat fast food daily?
Comments (39)I don't go to hamburger or Mexican chain fast food places, unless I happen to be in Seattle and need food, then I treat myself to a Dick's Cheeseburger. A local chain with a loyal following. Nothing fancy, no sit down, just walk up and take to your car or home. Hamburgers, cheeseburgers and fries, real milkshakes - 3 flavors only, I think. Soft drinks. That's it. Yum. If I'm elsewhere with no time for a sit down, I will get something at Starbucks. I love their sous vide egg whites with red peppers. Low carb, low cal, low fat, very tasty. Or I might get a low fat breakfast sandwich or cold turkey or chicken sandwich. They are decent and predictable, ready made -fast. Starbucks doesn't HAVE to let anyone use their restrooms but made a corporate decision to let even non-customers use them. This came after some unfortunate episodes of what appeared to be discrimination against certain types of people who were perceived as being non-customers (probably not going to buy anything). It will be interesting to see how that plays out for them and their customers....See MoreDo you eat enough unprocessed food?
Comments (60)Rob I'm sorry to say that he has no ambition to change his ways. Every single change that he has made has been through slow mini mini steps. He talks about the things that he would like to do but can't enact them without a great deal a guidance in that direction. He's disabled and that includes emotionally and mentally and physically. Sometimes he needs more help than other people. No at this point it is not life and death for him to change his diet but I'm not asking for a complete shift. He can never stop eating or drinking sweet stuff and junk food completely anyway. I'm really hoping for more of a shift towards whole foods as well. His body doesn't work right. So things like magnesium have had no effect on him. We both tried magnesium for our migraines and cramps to no avail. Bananas which are rich in potassium works for me and nothing works for him. He does take a multivitamin but he has to watch which brand he buys. Some of them cause him to have reactions. I love the idea of a Fitbi! I'm getting him one of those! He has absolutely refused to do any exercise 2 days in a row. I have to respect him for that as he knows the reaction his body will have and of course I see the reaction his body has. he is not in pain today but yesterday he was miserable for several hours. people who have migraines don't need more pain! I figure if I can get him up to two hours three times a week we will be sitting pretty as they say. That is light years away from what we had a couple of years ago, which was he couldn't even do anything and it looked like he was bound for a wheelchair. He would have had to go into a home because I certainly can't lift him and my husband isn't here enough to help him. Forgot to add that yes we drink lots of water. Both of us have to watch how much water though, as if we drink too much we get cramps....See MoreLars
