Because their mothers or servants were right handed and that is where the comb landed.

I would guess that is because that's where they have a natural part. My natural part is on the right, and so when I part my hair one one side, I part it on the right.

It might also be that most men's hair is thicker on the left side, but mine is not.

Because they are ”manly” men. Supposedly.

How about why part your hair?

^If you have curly hair, there is no need, but if you have straight hair, the hair often parts itself on its own, and the way it does this may or may not be attractive.

Of course there is always the option of a bouffant or beehive hairstyle, thus avoiding the need for a part. I saw a lot of those in Texas.

I've had a couple of perms so that I could see how I looked with curly hair, and I liked it, but I did not like the way it grew out, and I did not want to keep getting perms.

I don't know why but admit I've always noticed all the left parts. I do think I've heard something along the lines of what roxsol posted.

Well I don’t see anything conclusive in my search, other than it following the whorl. And apparently someone found that a counterclockwise whorl is more prevalent in gay men. Who knows.

Now I have no idea why the very first men I looked up were Adolph H and Reagan, could it have been images subconsciously stuck in my mind? Anyway their parts are on the right, FWIW.

Cary Grant parted his on the right also. I would prefer to be compared to him rather than Adolf or Ronnie.

I stand by my mothers combing of the hair and being right handed, placing the comb on the boy's left side. Little girls most often have no part or a center part. ( No. Not always ) It becomes habitual when the child begins combing their own hair.

Maybe it just looks more normal to them because when a man's shirt is buttoned or pants zipped, the line for the opening is on the right.

My take on this - for most men the whorl is clockwise so when the hair is cut short the strands naturally flow and turn left to right, looking neat without much work on the hair. But when your hair is long, you have more control on the line and can very much part middle or on the right/ left regardless of the whorl direction.

My husband has a cow lick that prevents his hair from being parted on the right. My son has it too.

As I first said, this is a likely explanation but I doubt there is just one or that there's any one answer to hold tightly with certainty:

When an adult helps a child dress or put on the finishing touches before pronouncing the task completed, they most typically do so when face to face with the kid. For boys, it's when shoes need to be tied or fastened, zippers zipped, shirts buttoned or rebuttoned correctly, and then for those needing this particular step, getting the hair combed.

Whether a mother, a father, a valet, a grandparent, an older sibling or a next-door neighbor, all of these people have something in common - they're overwhelmingly likely to be right handed. 90% of humans are. When a comb or brush is picked up and moved toward the kid's head, the side encountered is the kids left side. To hold a brush or comb in the right hand and try to put in a part on the opposite side, the kids right side, would be much harder. Ta-da.

I won't dismiss the cowlick comment but as with other things some of you seemed to find from internet searches, it sounds bogus to me. Men, and certainly boys, do not spend as much time looking at themselves in mirrors as females do. For me, up through when I no longer would have had a cowlick (for obvious reasons), I can't say I ever had occasion to look to see if I had one or if so, which way the swirl went. But I can say that my mother was right handed and my part was always on the left. When I was old enough to comb my own hair, I continued it where it was, as I think most do.

A child may not much notice the difference but a parent combing the boy’s hair certainly would. And a barber would. I’d have to look back at old pictures to see which side my hair was parted as a child, but back then my mother left my hair cut tragically long so it wouldn’t have been as influenced by whorls or cowlicks. Later in life, after the middle part and long hair, I started getting my hair cut a lot shorter and my part became a discussion frequently initiated by barbers who felt it lay better on the other side. ”Other” depending on the barber. Between a mild whorl and mild cowlicks neither side is perfect and either side has its advantages. Eventually I settled on the right even though I knew it was non-standard, as to me it’s the better of the two. If my hair had its choice it’d be combed straight forward, no part at all. This is the look I fight all day!

A lot of the younger men i see dont part their hair at all. Many keep it evenly short or even shaved. Some wish they had enough to part at all! I always thought the part was determined by the natural whorl of you hair.
