MAJOR loss of my plants due to mouse infestation
Comments (4)Thanks everyone. But boy is it very depressing losing so many plants. A few more of my sarracenias died: my S. 'Cobra Nest', I bought it last year in a Home Depot in L.A., my S. flava 'copper top', and my S. rubra jonesii. They were nibble so near to the growing points, plus it was the beginning of their dormancy. I think it was too much for them, so they died. But I recently noticed my D paradoxa is gone. But I do have a surviving S alabamensis pup that was growing from the main rhizome, at least that's some good news, since this is an endangered species and it's hard to get one. I also have a VFT triffid pup and my S purpurea heterophylla seems to be recovering. So there is a bit of good news. So I'm looking at my list of my plants showing where I bought my plants. I'm hoping repurchase them this spring. My favorite spots I bought my plants came from California Carnivores, Lee's Botanical Garden, and Cook's Flytraps. Hopefully even visit California Carnivores this coming July. See if Mr. D'Amato remembers me. Well, I wont give up. But boy I have to learn to prooof ead my posts better. :-p...See MoreMajor Hail Damage
Comments (16)Gail, it's ok to feel upset about this...yes, there are worse calamities in life, but I remember feeling devastated when my entire garden was trashed in ten minutes. Even the daylily scapes were destroyed! I feel like we wait a long time for our gardens to mature and come awake from winter dormancy and my garden is a huge source of happiness for me, so when my husband remarked, after the storm, that they were "just plants", lets just say that did not go over well. We here get it. The good news is that there is no permanent damage and it is still early so many of them may surprise you by sending up growth that will camouflage the damage. Some are better than others at that, like the Stained Glass family....See MoreFirst major setback :/
Comments (18)That really sucks. We had 60 mph straight line winds in Minneapolis on Saturday. I was gone and was expecting the worst when I got home. To my surprise, everything I have planted survived with no issues. More of the same weather forecasted for tonight. If it makes you feel any better, you probably have already harvested more peppers than I will get in my short growing season....See MoreNephew has a major computer problem.
Comments (12)First of all you will need to figure out why the CD Rom does not recognize the recovery disk. The user should put the recovery disk in, then reboot, see if the disk is recognized at that point. If you get the NTLDR message it's still trying to boot from the hard drive. Check the boot order in BIOS. Now come back and tell us what happens and what error is generated when the user boots the computer with the recovery disk in it. Then tell us the user has checked the BIOS and the CD rom is listed as the first boot device. If this computer is back from repair with the same issue I can only think the hard drive is failing.......See Moreroselee z8b S.W. Texas
