Nephew has a major computer problem.

Hi everyone,

I spoke to my nephew tonight and he was telling me about this weird thing that has happened to his computer and he can't solve it himself. Right now it is out of commission and he needs some answers.

First he has an HP Pavilion A1314N. His OS is Windows XP Media center.

Now for the problem:

When he boots up the computer this message pops up,

NTLDR is missing, press Control, Alt, Delete to restart. When he does this nothing happens and the message returns.

He has tried to do a System Restore and he tried to use the recovery disc but, it won't recognize either one of them. Trying to boot up in Safe Mode doesn't work either.

Can this problem be fixed? He needs some line by line instruction and I will have to email him through work to get this to him. He is stumped and would greatly appreciate your help.

Second Question he would like to know:

Is the bios and the comos supposed to be shadowed?

This is all that I know and he is hoping he can get this resolved. Thank you for all of your help.
