does that 1000$ included mudding, taping, priming and painting and or ceiling texture? If so, then I would pay 1000$ to get that done. It seems reasonable. 8 lights for 500$, also does this include the lights themselves or just the labour and wiring? To do this yourself, depending on your experience could be quite time consuming and could be a major inconvenience, especially in the last two months of your pregnancy. all told 1500$ for all material and labour is not bad.

mimipadv, not sure I understand your question. I am looking for a light that would be above the sink. Task or spot would be ok as far as it is not recessed and powerful enough to light my activities at the sink. Sorry if I was not clear

I personally love the Metro-style shelving that you pictured in your post, and I don't think it looks too "pantry-ish" for a kitchen. As a matter of fact, my sister had 2 such units in her kitchen, and I thought they looked fabulous. (She downsized by half and got rid of them, but they were snapped up quickly when she offered them for sale on Kijiji). They are flexible and personalizable, in that you can not only adjust the shelves but add hanging items (either for ease of use or decoration). I don't like things tucked away behind doors, but I also like enough room to spread them out so they don't look too crowded. You can get units like that in Home Depot or Costco too; I bought mine from U-Line because I wanted really tall units. They are really easy to put together, and I think they look great.

I think a triple light is too much. 9 lightbulbs? you could land a plane in there! go w/a double light fixture. 6 bulbs is plenty. any chance of removing that huge mirror, doing two separate mirrors, and installing sconce lighting ? (these are pendants, but sconces would give the same look) lighting like this is so much better for doing make up or something like this?
