Comments (43)So many good suggestions still coming in--appreciate that. I won't be ordering until after Thanksgiving (or maybe after Xmas), so I'm open to any more beautiful ideas. I'm looking them all up. Some I kinda know. But I don't know much of anything about Mrs. Dudley Cross, cherrykist. Is it hardy in Zone 6? HMF say Zone 7--but I know it is sometimes rather conservative on hardiness. And I'm not sure about its height since HMF says 3-5 ft (or something like that). What is your experience--does it stay around 3 ft? It is a lovely rose, but not a type I have ever seen, so I'm not sure what to think about it. Mine are usually very distinctive, I think I was more disappointed b/c my backyard has been taken over by mass amounts of seedlings due to an ..obsessive month or 2 on LA last year ..so I was trying to trade daylilies that I have similar ones.. and dont' think "I have a great..plant that MIGHT be pink..will interest many ppl.LOL" My mom and dad are visiting me and they're GREAT gardeners, so I was hoping to have tiny yard looking vibrant and artsy and just generally cleaned up b.f they get here.. and it's not going to happen. Comments (27)Reporting back very late here! So, my eye of rounds had worked their way to the bottom of the freezer. I found one yesterday and this was going to be dinner. I messed it up some. Like Sol, I rub with olive oil, lots of pepper and some salt. I had just taken bread out of the oven at 450 so I put it in like Nancy mentioned and reduced the temp to 325 after 10 minutes or so. Guessing, 45 minutes later it wasn't even up to 110 yet so I thought I had plenty of time to go move the hoses around that were water my newly planted trees. Wrong! Came back in and it was up to 125-130 in less than five maybe 10 minutes. Took it out didn't cover hoping it would cool off and still be on the rare side. Not a total loss but more done than what I like. Not bad would have been much better if I would have kept a closer eye on it and taken it out earlier. Not too tough but way from tender. Oh well, live and learn. I have three half roast left and will try a couple of the other recipes soon. It really didn't give much juice/fat to work with for gravy, I know it's a lean cut, I mananged to make some anyway. Any tips on that. I just added some butter a touch of broth to the pan and moved forward with makeing gravy. Think I'll try Sharon's method next for beef on a bun. I gerneral use rump roast cooked low and slow for this and then shread it. I'll try it with this cut. Are y'all cutting this by hand or using a meat slicer when you say "cut very thin"? Comments (44)The house is in New Brunswick, Canada about 400 miles north of me but there are a few of these near me as well. I could drive 400 miles in a north easterly direction and still be in Texas! I've made that drive [edited to add: I can't tell east from west, apparently; I've driven north westerly lol], and the historic architecture is mostly Victorian, Craftsman, and a few small Tudors. Lots of folk Victorian around here. Which is pretty, no doubt. It was just surprising to me; I expected more "Texas ranch," whatever that was, lol. [Edit #2: I could be in another country if I drove 700 miles down, and through, Brownsville. :-D Okay, okay, I could go to Mexico via Laredo at 250 miles, but 700 is so much more impressive.]...See MoreJessica
