Glass cage or shower curtains

We have two baths to renovate one a larger master bath. We did three previous with glass cage and door, but now considering curtains. There is a high mineral content so cleaning glass is a little difficult. Must consider sales appeal as we may sell in 1 year. Glass cage and door or curtains?

It is hard to say without seeing photos of your space, and sharing how much use your baths get.

Personally, I would fix the high mineral content in your water, but if you're moving soon, I can certainly see not wanting to spend that money. But then that begs the question: Why doing expensive and messy remodels when you might be selling in a year?

When you offer the choice of "Glass cage and door or curtains" do you mean curtains all the way around on 4 sides? Or do you mean glass on 3 sides and curtains on one side? Is there a curb at the bottom to keep water in? I think you didn't get any other responses because you didn't include photos, and the information isn't complete.

After staying in a hotel last week with a walk in shower approximately 36" deep with a shower curtain, I strongly advise against a shower curtain. Assuming your bathroom will have an exhaust fan to help ventilate the moisture from the shower, you have to expect the shower curtain to be impacted by the moving air. The warm shower air is drawn up over the curtain into the fan. And of course more air needs to be drawn into the shower, so how does it get in there? That's right, it blows the curtain into the shower allowing the air to go under the curtain. Trying to shave my legs with a wet shower curtain sticking to my legs and arms and behind is very unpleasant. When I redo my master shower I will definitely be going with a glass door and/or fixed panel.

I prefer a curtain. Easier to clean and with the right curtain, can look very classy indeed. Some of this will depend on the actual style of your bath, so if you'd like to drop in a photo of your actual bathtub, that would be cool. And as Mark pointed out, if one does need to bathe a toddler in one, a curtain is much more practical, so it will depend on if you foresee the need, or if you plan to sell in the near future, or if there's another appropriate toddler bathing spot in the house. The other thing I will note -- in one of the homes my parents had, the guest bath had a glass door. The crevices were a nuisance to clean. In fact, though my mother was a neatnik, there was always a tiny bit of bleah remaining...

Glass enclosure as above. A shower curtain will blow around in this design. If glass is not in the budget, there are shower curtain rods shaped like Cs that can be mounted on the ceiling. Add a heavy shower curtain (you may need curtain weights), hung with its bottom edge as close to the top edge of the pan as possible. Keep an old towel just for mopping up.

You can use a tension/pressure shower curtain rod that is easy to install and easy to replace.
