Should I give up on sea pearl quartzite?

We’re building our forever home and fell in love with sea pearl quartzite for our kitchen countertops. I love to cook, as do my extended family members. We also have 2 small children. To be prudent, we wanted to test the quartzite to make sure we weren’t buying marble or dolomite.

The quartzite passed the glass scratch test. Turmeric paste did not stain after 22 hours, surprisingly. But everything else (water, red wine vinegar, lemon juice, red wine, soy sauce) left a stain after 22 hours. The company thought that the stain was due to water, and suggested it would evaporate within 48 hours.

48 hours later, the stain is still there.

If sea pearl is a “true” quartzite, and it stains this badly, should I move on from quartzite and just go with quartz? *sigh
