Red-Orange Accents Give a Home a Beach-Sunset Glow

Something about the saturated, bold color of coral screams warm weather to me. Perhaps because it's such a hot hue itself, it seems made for the higher temperatures we've been seeing on the West Coast of late. Like a seven o' clock sunset or a berry not quite ripe for the picking, coral is simply made for this time of year. Here's a bit of inspiration to use the tone to bring a little sizzle to your home this season.

I'll start with this very literal interpretation. A slim accent wall in bright coral is accented with a bolster pillow sporting a print featuring — you got it, the sea organism of the same name.

My last apartment's bathroom had old, dusty brownish pink tiles on the floor and walls — to call it coral would be a disservice to the shade. That said, while it wasn't as pretty as the hues here, it was definitely in the same color family. The only way to make the room look somewhat pulled together was to pair it with pale blue, as done in this duvet and pillow cover set. These two colors work incredibly well together.

Bright white and a hit of saturated blue also provide a striking balance.

Coral tones warm up this kitchen without overwhelming it. Thanks to a few strips of white tile covering some of the wall, the overall look remains fresh and crisp.

Here the shade veers closer to red than orange, while coral is further celebrated with those weighty tabletop specimens.
