Where would you like to travel, if it were not unsafe (ETA: political)

And by dangerous, I mean places like Afghanistan, Iran, North Korea, etc.

I would probably like to visit Iran and perhaps Afghanistan, but I would also like to visit Turkey, and I do not think I would feel safe there. I would probably add Egypt to that list, plus Jordan and Lebanon.

I would like to visit Turkey because of its archaeological sites, and I think that Jordan and Egypt would have the same attraction. I have not really checked into what sites there are in Iran and Afghanistan, but they are so far from being considered anyway.

I don't think I would feel safe in China, Hong Kong, or Indonesia, but they are not on my list anyway, although I think it would be interesting to visit Borneo and New Guinea.

Africa is not on my list at all, except perhaps for Egypt, and I'm not all that drawn to Egypt anyway.

What places have you taken off of your list?

BTW, in the past I have visited places that were somewhat dangerous, such as crossing from British Honduras to Guatemala in 1979 when they were at war. I also visited Oaxaca, Mexico during intense guerrilla warfare that I was unaware of at the time, although I did notice soldiers on every street corner with rifles that had bayonets. At that time, I just thought that Oaxaca City was a military town, like the one where I grew up, near Fort Hood. (O
