Coretec Chandler oak problems- replacement suggestions!

I just wanted to post something out there about our experience with this floor. And ask for replacement suggestions. We replaced all our flooring on the first floor with Coretec pro plus Chandler oak. I immediately noticed the white powder on the floors but suspected it was dry wall dust as we had just some other work in the house. No matter what I used it didn't go away and the floors never looked clean.
That was something I could live with. However we started noticing blood all over our floors and we were able to determine that my small children's feet were getting cut up by the floors. My dogs paw pads were also getting worn down. My husband and I also experienced cuts on our toes and holes in all our socks. I reached out to rite rug our installer and they filed a claim for us with Coretec. Initially there was discussion that the space between the planks was too large. But this week we found out that they approved our claim because the top coat used on this flooring is abrasive and can have an exfoliating effect.
We have been approved for a reselection. I'm not certain if it will be with Coretec brands only or any sold by our installer. I'm concerned that all Coretec floors or all LVP have this top coat. Anyone have advice on this? I can't live this way anymore. I feel like they shouldn't advertise these floors as good for animals and children because literally it injured my family.

Hi Megan, I sell thousands of square feet of LVP (and CoreTec) and have never heard of this happening before. I think your experience is not indicative of LVP in general nor of CoreTec specifically. Good for CoreTec in trying to make this right. If this had happened with me I would give CoreTec another shot. Try one of their other product lines, something that is not in their PRO line. Their PRO offering has an SPC core, whereas the rest of their products have a WPC core. You will find those with a WPC core are softer underfoot, dampen sound more than an SPC, and are warmer (which could be a big deal if you live in a colder climate). I hope you have a much better experience with your second go around with new flooring. Let me know what you decide (or have decided, since your post is over 3 weeks old). I'm curious to know how this turns out for you.

We ended up picking Coretec Fidalgo Oak as the replacement. It is 1000x better. We have not had an issue with cuts on our kids feet or our own. We chose this floor because it did not have a smooth texture (it is very embossed on top) and we suspected that the smooth floors were more abrasive. We still get holes in our socks and my children's pants get holes in the knees. But I'm just thankful that they aren't being injured anymore.

@Jennifer Moskopf - Hi Jennifer, sorry the flooring is not available anymore. Someone just bought it from me about a week ago. We really love our floors. It looks so good and also feels good. We put it on top of our concrete basement floor. Our contractor did ask us to put a mositure barrier in between the concrete and flooring. Initial few weeks there were creaking noise. But now its been more than 6 months and no noise at all. I guess it takes a few weeks to settle down.

We installed 2600 sf of Happy Feet Pinnacle LVP in our new build and am very happy with it. i had read through this group many times prior but decided with grown kids it was more important to us to have a matte look and low maintenance than risk wearing out our socks. I definitely prefer the feel of natural wood under bare feet but this LVP is not wearing out our socks or our bare feet. So far it feels like a great decision. interesting anecdotal observation - when in our old house, which had hardwood throughout, when we laid out various LVP samples and left them there for a week, our dog stated laying on the Happy Feet sample section. Never the other samples. 🤔

I'll avoid the discussion about whether this is the right look for your home. But I have Coretec LVT (tiles, travertine-look) and can speak to the installation and durability. Surface prep was not easy. I live in a 100-year-old house with wavy subfloor, and my contractor installed a few hundred pounds' worth of leveling compound to get to within the manufacturer's recommended tolerance of "flat". Install was very easy. We did floating, no glue, because we have radiant in-floor heat and didn't want to worry about subfloor temps getting too warm for the glue. The durability is fantastic, and I'd do it again for that reason. We have a 100-pound dog, a puppy, three cats, and lots of muddy hiking and skiing boots, and the floor looks as good as it did when it was installed 3-1/2 years ago. We use a mini-mop with a spray bottle of floor cleaner, and a handheld steamer for deeper cleaning.

We had Ciaro Oak Pro Plus XL installed about 3 months ago in the entire main floor. Half of the floor was laid over existing 3/4" hardwood the rest was laid over 3/4" underlayment that was brought in to take the prior carpeted areas up to the hardwood level. We have popping, crackling "snap, crackle, pop" when you walk on it and physical movement up and down by 1/4" or more in some areas where the LVP was laid over the existing hardwood. So frustating. Coretec Shaw said that it is normal and a floating floor can make noises. We thought it was an installation issue but this thread makes make wonder. We purchased our flooring through Costco and are trying to come to a resolution. Thank goodness we haven't installed baseboards yet.
