Really we need more info and also what on earth do you mean by a decorator tub . Are you going to use the tub or do you somehow think you need to have one and honestly do not even think about a tub inside a shower the dumbest idea ever on so many levels.

Slab, unfortunately. I’m sorry you have not heard the term decorator tub. It’s a step up from the standard ones you get in a tract house. I love baths. I don’t care about resale. This is for me. I see “the dumbest idea ever” on design shows on tv. It’s being done more lately. I wondered if the advantage was using the same plumbing or saving space or ??? I don’t know.

I am neither insulting or arrogant but i am honest and just because you see stuff on fake design shows does not make it a good idea. As for the tub if you trully love to bathe do not get a free standing tub they are a PITA to get in and out of and a nice deep soaker is a much better choice . I grew up with a free standig claw foot tub and even as a kid hated getting in and out of it. I think if you contact a couple of plumbers there could be away to get to a drain my understanding is the plan had a garden tub and you opted for not having that is that correct? Maybe a bit mor einfo or a floor plan could help.

No matter HOW You do it you will have an expensive, jack up the concrete slab project. A tub is water in a vessel with a DRAIN. No matter the size or shape.

I am not a plumber or a pro but theoretically I assume you can tie a drain into any existing drain provided that the slope is appropriate.

I retrofitted a washer dryer and the lines tie into my shower drain. I live in a high rise which has each units HVAC tied into a central water line which often backed up causing flooding in my unit. When I remodeled, I elliminated the "central" line and had it tied into my guest bathroon sink drain system.

I had my tub/shower combination ripped out and a walk in shower installed and that required a different type of drain as shower drains are different than bath drains - even those which are shower tub drains. I guess because if water rises in a tub/shower combination it is less of an issue but I don't really know.

Although extremely rare, one of my neighbors remodeled and actually moved the toilet about 8 feet or so. According to my GC, who was friendly with the GC who did my neighbor's unit, they tied into the exisiing toilet drain and made sure it was sloped properly. In order to do that they had to elevate the shower floor a bit as the drain ran under the shower to the old toilet drain.

As to what it would cost, you really need to have a plumber come in and give you a true estimate.

FWIW, I also think free standing tubs are not a great idea - especially in a normal middle class bathroom where they aren't really free standing. They are difficult to clean around and also difficult to maneuver in and out of unless one is long limbed. They also don't have a place for the accoutrements of relaxing baths as there is no place to put stuff - unlike tubs with ledges.

My knowledge of living with a free standing tub is first hand as I had a clawfoot tub in the place I rented for two years in college. I didn't like it then and have no urge to replicate the experience now. I have seen some absoutely gorgeous drop in style tubs on these forums which are more practical. I especially like the ones which are undermounted.

call in a plumber to determine if the drain can me moved. The slope of the existing drain will determine that. I had a 30 foot trench dug w/mine when we moved the shower/toilet to another part of the add-on. also on a cement slab. luckily, we had enough slope to tie into the existing sewer line. and luckily we had really good connections and friends because it was actually pretty cheap.

but expect to pay anywhere from 3-10K. have no idea what yours entails because we can't see it or what you want to do.
