Paint Exterior Design Dilemma

Garage door color suggestions

Hello Houzzers! We just moved into a new construction home and are wanting to paint the garage door and the posts by the front porch. Do you have any suggestions on color? The exterior of the home is SW Nantucket pewter and the Stone is ferrous sculpted Ashlar.
We were thinking of painting it the same color as the exterior siding, but I also love grays so I wonder if that might look nicer. What do you think? Any mockups would also be extremely helpful.

Hard to tell on my computer, but it looks like some of the siding is already a gray color? If so, I'd paint the garage door in that color, if you want it to blend (vs. stand out).

It would be helpful if you were able to post pictures from different vantage points; that way, it would be possible to better understand the mass of the house, what else is around it, and get a more complete overall picture of how it sits on the lot. Right now the house facade reads rather one dimensionally, and the easiest way to change that would be to add a front porch. Can't say from the picture whether the porch should just be at the front door, or whether it should extend across more of the house and help to break up the wall. Removing the stone would definitely be something to consider, along with changing the front door to something more contemporary. Adding some taller trees to the right side of the house could also help to break up the perception of the wall.

Yes, replacing all windows but not the arched window. So you think it would be okay to do dark framed windows on the front of the house and white on the back?

Maybe Repose Gray, Krypton or Folkstone, but you'd have to check with sample cans. The way they look on my screen with the brick/mortar could be deceiving. Krypton could be a bit too gray. Portrait Tone and Decorous Amber both lean a little too orange, unless that's what you want. Can you post a better picture of the metal security doors? Offhand I'd say you don't want them to be a different color than the door...if they have to stay. It would be nice if someone here could do some mockups for you. I'm not good with that.

^I agree with the garage door matching the siding color. Since the garage takes up a good portion of the front of the house, try to pull more focus to the front door/entry area. You might also consider a garage door with windows across the top in order to help break up the "wall" of garage.

If you decide to paint the garage door like the siding color, consider painting the front door a happier color to pop against all the grey going on. If possible, you could change the garage door handle to black and add black garage door hardware on the sides to compliment the black shutters upstairs and garage lights . Congrats on the new home!
