Help with black clothes and lint
Comments (11)Try wiping out your rubber seal around the door with a wet rag. Make sure you get all the way around it, both on the inside and outside of it. You will haveto pull it open to get the side cleaned out. I too had HE3T 9 years old and I used to wipe the seal out due to dirt, and hair being in it, but never for mold. Also shake your clothes out before you wash them to removed some of the hair since you said they were covered in hair before you washed them. A good test is to wash a clean hair and lint free item in the washer and see how it comes out before you dry it. If hair is on it after it is washed, then you got hair in the washer that has not been rinsed out...See MoreLG Combo Washer Dryer Lint Build-Up
Comments (29)Just incase others have a similar problem - I thought I was getting something similar to this problem. Clothes not drying properly however there seemed to be a lot of steam coming out of the drawer / tray. Turns out the cold water solenoid valve had died (the top left hand of the machine with the 3 blue tabs, just right to the red square part in the picture on the comment above) so water wasn't flowing into the condenser and then the steam wasn't being condensed - you could tell this was the problem since intermittently you should hear a sudden "whoosh" for a second or two every few minutes of the valve opening up and water flowing out. It did appear that less water was coming out the grey pipe on the back of the machine too, but this was because no extra water was coming into the system via the condenser. Anyway bought new cold water solenoid valve for £25, two screws off, 3 pipes on and off and it was fixed. Couldn't find much about this on the web - Just an idea....See Moreexcess lint from washer
Comments (6)The problem is not the machine, it how you are sorting what goes into the machine. Fleece should be washed inside out with other fleece garments that has the same or similar fiber construction, and the Delicate cycle should be used to preserve the texture with the use of fabric softener to help restore the nap. Machine dry low. I have a fleece sweater that is about 7 years old and it still look great as if I just brought it yesterday and my partner has the same sweater and it been dogged since he used the normal (Heavy duty) cycle without sorting and fabric softener, matted and old looking........See MoreHelp- new front loader leaves clothes linty
Comments (10)@izeve and @fahrenheit 451 asked good questions. Mechanical stuff aside, could you be using a powder detergent in COLD water, that is not dissolving thoroughly? Some washers don't heat the water unless it is on Sanitize, etc. Most washers use so little water, that often the HOT never reaches the washer unless the water line is 'primed' by drawing up HOT water in a nearby sink. It is entirely possible that if you're using powder detergent, and you have these variables, maybe this is part of the problem. I have noticed pilling on a few knits, but they're mostly cheaper stuff or knits with CoolMax. (I do not toss in bath towels with knits.) Sheesh, even the 100% cotton pre-folded cloth diapers we use for dusting & housecleaning are pilling. Go figure.... cotton is not supposed to pill....See MoreRobert Simmons
