Subfloor question for SuperCore LVP...please help

We will be installing SuperCore LVP in our finished basement in the bathroom and walk-in closet. Old tile was removed from the bathroom and closet area and we are down to bumpy concrete subfloor. I read the instruction on the We Ship Floor website but I am still confused.

Can we glue down OSB to the concrete and install the LVP on the OSB? This is what we did on our upper level but our subfloor was wood - not concrete.

What is the proper procedure for this situation?

No...don't do glue down wood over concrete. Please don't. It just isn't worth it.

Do your CONCRETE and your home the RIGHT process = grind/shot blast and LEVEL it. Pouring concrete over lumpy concrete = normal for basement installs. Totally and completely normal.

If you want a nasty, gooey, sweaty, moldy mess then go ahead and glue wood to concrete.

Quick question: how OLD is the house? When was it built? Photos of lumpy-bumpy concrete.

Thx SJ!!

Looks like DriCore is the product that I should use. Are you familiar with this product as a subfloor over concrete?

I just wanted to share some install photos. We just finished a kitchen of One Sweet Talker. I love how it looks and I love the wider and longer planks. The customer service was again top notch. However, I hate that I have to say this but I feel like I need to share because I wish I'd known. This is our second house with Supercore and we love the company. We just finished the install Thurs. Sunday we had guests over. One of them must have had a rock stuck in their shoe or something. There's now a huge area of scratching. Almost a foot long. It's so disappointing. And I know that maybe other brands would be similar, but it just seems so soon and just under normal wear. 😕 I'll attach pictures in another comment to show how well they show up on this color.

The backing is cork so I am not surprised by a vapor barrier requirement. We are having it put down throughout our new home and will be glad to be 100% tile and grout free for the first time in our lives :) I have some old samples that I've tried to damage. It is very difficult to scratch or gouge, the only way I was able to pit it was to take a decent swing at it with a sharp tool that had some weight to it. Makes me wonder if we'll even want or need to fuss around with felt pads under everything (they seem to be magnets for dirt, hair, fur, or whatever floats around before you have a chance to sweep it up.)

I would like to get feedback on the Supercore Basics line. I am looking at Solitude for around 1,000 sf. I have an old wood subfloor that I am going to need to do a lot of leveling on. Where do you draw the line for telling someone that a 4.5mm floor is not for them? I know I only get a 12mil wear layer, but the fact that it is still Aluminum Oxide and has a stone composite core makes me feel it will be ok. Is there any difference in the locking system? The lock does not seem as hefty on the samples for the basics line. I get concerned that with an old pier and beam supported floor that has settled, even if I level the floor, will the less hardy locking system fail if I get slight movement with any further settling?

Well I am never quick to do anything it seems. I didn't realize I had started the thread as it says " last year". Anyway after obsessing and trying to find thee one.... I am really close to pulling the trigger. I know there are a lot of very fine brands out there that offer good value, but I am just a bit too chicken to coordinate ordering this stuff remotely and having it delivered here. I have done that with furniture and its fine but I cannot fathom doing it for lvp. (that's my issue). I actually had someone come to measure and give an estimate and am having one more come in a few days so at least I will have a ballpark idea of what will be involved for real in my situation. I am 95% going with CoreTec at this point and will be getting it from a local store. Their price is decent- not stellar but decent. They have a good reputation and I just don't want to spend thousands and have the manufacturer not stand behind it. I sincerely hope I don't need the manufacture to stand behind it, but it's a concern I have. To the best of my understand, the wear layer is a key component. Some say at least 12 mil is good. I am going for 20. That's my elimination process. I started out looking for super pale and uniform in color and have kind of evolved to medium tone and varied color. It's an adventure.

Yep. You still need to be careful with the flatness rating of the Dricore. You will spend +++time into setting the shims under the Dricore.

The house was built in 1971.

This room is now going to be a closet with a pocket door into the bathroom and that's the concrete floor that the DriCore and LVP will go over.

This is the floor in the old bathroom. Leveling compound has been put down but I don't have pictures of that step. The pocket door now connects the closet to the bathroom. This entire area will have LVP.

What SJM said you have to prep the floor properly.

If you look at DriCore installation specs, it tells you that "Any dips or low spots in the concrete surface greater than 1/4" should be troweled level with a Portland cement compound or leveled with a self-leveling compound to ensure an accurate installation."

The same goes for LVP flooring

"A. The surface of the subfloor must be flat. The flatness requirement is defined as follows: the maximum difference between two high points and the intermediate low point is 1/4" in a 10' radius. Surface flatness must also not vary more than 1/16" when measured with a 3' straight edge. Additionally, the subfloor must not slope more than 1" in 6'.

B. High areas can be sanded, ground down, or floated over with an approved self-leveling compound. Fill excessive voids or low areas using a non-gypsum, cementitious-based leveling compound. Allow the leveling compound to dry thoroughly before beginning the LifeProof Vinyl Plank installation. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to be sure it is appropriate for the application.
