Has anyone been stalked by a mom and child looking for friendship?
Comments (31)lol justgottabe- I too have married in to a stalker situation. It has given us a lot of great stories and laughs but in reality there is a dark side, where my husband and I have agreed that things could turn quickly from stealing from us (even took our truck while we were away) and coming in while we are not home (bagged her) to "slapping on a diaper and driving to Texas," or "making a Jenn skin suit and crawling inside of it." As you can see we have used our dark senses of humor to deal with this but have never dealt with it directly. So learn from my mistakes: nip it in the bud, face to face (agree no email) now. Next time she comes over, let the girls play and ask her if you can speak privately. Tell her that you and your family value your privacy and that you wish you had said something years ago, but that pop-ins, early am calls, and unplanned play-dates are not to happen anymore, you just don't like it. Be very specific. If kids are playing in the neighborhood and her kid happens to fall in with them that is one thing, but they are old enough now for that to happen organically and for it not to impact you in the least....See MoreMy So-Called Good "Friend" Tried To Steal My Husband: WWYD?
Comments (57)Thank you, Radar. I really don't know what he thinks of it, but I do wonder that, too. If he's talked to DH about it, I know my husband did not mention to him that Sue came on to him, as well. Perhaps, after they got back together, they were hoping that we would call and arrange to do something together again. When we didn't, because (1) I was very angry still at Sue for trying to have an affair or whatever with my husband and (2) because we were both very upset and, yes, angry at how Sue helped destroy our mutual friends' marriage they most likely thought that it was because of the latter reason. Thankfully, though, it hasn't ruined DH and Jim's longtime golf games together. But, from what I've been told, the talk during golf and after in the clubhouse is pretty much just about everything golf related....See MoreFriendship question
Comments (53)I did reply to K's text. Today we went to lunch and I hugged her as I left. She's feeling better. No harm done. K is very emotional-she feels left out when a waiter refills someones glass but not hers-she takes it personally. She's called me in tears because she felt someone at work slighted her because they didn't tell her good morning when they passed in the hall She knows that V and I do so much together and V posts pictures of us and vice versa. I also post pics of K, too! I've been very fond of her over the years, but I'd never call her my best friend. My DH is my best friend too, until I met V and I realized we were soul sisters. We talk nearly every day, and we spend every bit of free time we can with one another. Call it juvenile but I won't apologize for having found someone in my middle age life who I'm probably closer to than my own DH. At least with her I can gripe about him! K and I have been very long time friends, but I've never felt that spark with her. As an adult I had one other friend who I once told that now I know what it's like living with me-we were so close, so much alike and she was my best friends, but she passed away several years ago. K also knew her and knew of our relationship, but never said anything about feeling jealous. I have a bunch of really great, sweet friends who I'd lay down my life for, but they know they're not my "best friend". I don't believe it changes the dynamic of our relationships one bit. Many have their DH's as their best friend, and some, like me, have a female BF as well. I think I can say that my friends all know how much I value them, I let it be known frequently. As to my FB, I've got a limited number of friends on there. Those who know I'm an open book and share in my quirks and foibles. Only people I care to share with are my friends, just like IRL. I share less, actually, on FB than I do IRL. But each person uses FB as they chose. I don't understand the people who have 735 'friends', I just don't have the time for that. ETA the 'announcement' wasn't like that. I'd mentioned I went to a store that is in the same town V lives in and I said it was a great way to spend some quality time with my best bud who I don't get to see often enough I didn't even call her out specifically!...See MoreAnother WWYD re: texting?
Comments (40)eld I think you did the right thing -you did what your heart told you to do you probably don't phone her often-so maybe felt less natural to phone yes maybe a card is the right way to go-but depends on one's culture and what one's used to do..it'd be the last thing to come to me, to send a card, upon hearing someone's devastating diagnosis. I'd feel an impulse to react-and it might be that would take me time to think about a card even. you did what felt right to you in the moment. she also did what felt right to her in the moment-which was probably doing nothing as she's so distraught yes I'd probably text very fast "thanks" as I'm almost always answering.. but who knows what we'd really do, under circumstances such and such you texted as you felt strongly and your thoughts were with her, and that's what you did. and she is in the state it's hard for her to answer..maybe to talk in any manner, whatever it might be. I must add-I don't really like talking on the phone(with few exceptions), or texting, or Skyping, or many other things I do appreciate people's kindness in whatever form it comes. I don't expect it to be tailored to me. They do what they feel right at the moment. I'm kinda sure she does too these are all details, hard to get them perfectly right. Nothing is right about this situation. It's devastating, and rarely one can say something that's more than a sign of "I'm with you". And whoever's going through this, he understands it, and he doesn't expect more, or less, or differently, or..He knows. Or so I think. I lost somebody dear to me recently. I was so ...in short I wrote about it to some friends. I had to put it in words somehow, to stop sobbing, Nobody but one answered anything at all. It's okay. What could have they said? They were there to read. Maybe. And writing helped. whatever you did was fine, whatever she did not was fine too-even though it left you with this sense of maybe you offended her or something you didn't. she knows. I hope her daughter beats the disease I hate with all my guts, and its gloomy statistics and..whatever you wish for them I wish and hope, and yes, pray-because that's what people do sometimes, it's about the intention, and we all have our ways to express it. Spanish. hugs.. (see, even writing here-I feel it's all silly and inadequate. What can you do. You word something-you loose something. with a slight hope others will get the sign. of your intention)...See More- 5 years agolast modified: 5 years ago
