wood tile to wood floor transition?

We have 3" wood plank floor. Originally we wanted to extend into our bedroom but that doesn't seem to be an option bc of the age of our hardwoods. Can we do a wood tile floor into master suite (bed& bath) and not have the transition look weird or janky? I took photos of the main transition point from hallway to bedroom. Any suggestions are welcome! Tysm

DO NOT transition a wood floor next to a wood-look tile! Wood-look tile looks great when it's on its own in a bath or kitchen, but putting it next to the real McCoy will make it look weird, mismatched, and not the right color.

If you can't get another staining out of your existing hardwood so you can match it in the bedroom, I'd either replace all the hardwood or find another carpet you like better.

Hello, I'm putting new flooring in my kitchen (1/2" engineered hard wood and ceramic tile) and will have about 1/4 difference between the surfaces. 1. 1/4 backer + 3/8 tile and grout = ~3/4" 2. 1/2" wood floor = 1/2" I'm doing the tile first and want to know what the best way to finish off the edge that will meet the wood flooring so that when I get around to installing the wood floor, things will go as smooth as possible. I know I'll have to use a wood transition/reducer piece but my main concern right now is how to finish the tile edge... Should I use some sort of a retainer so that I can grout around the outside edge or is there something better? Any suggestions/pictures would be great! Thanks!

Okay, I think I see what you are getting at. I should be able to lay flooring into the doorway with ease and then maybe screw down a straightedge to the door frame (or pocket screw it in place) and route a perfect line. Then it would be alot of small adjustments, but I'd rather do that on one filler strip than every floor board. I should have said, the boards meet this doorway edge on, that is, the boards are the long part of the T and the doorway is the top of the T. Thanks. Anthony

THis is just a summer cottage, no insulation, heat, etc. it was built by a farmer for my parents 50 + years ago. The pine floors aren’t even tongue & groove, just very irregular boards, and I have no interest whatsoever in the time or expense of refinishing them. I think it’s permanent. When we measured with laser it was completely straight line but after laying tiles it starts flash with floors but goes about 1/4 inch gap to wards the end. I think by the time we get to the end it will be more than 1/4 inch. I was thinking to take off more about 4 inches of wood and lay a piece of sand wood opposite direction to make a transition point but that will probably only work if time end up flash with floor height that I will see only after wood is sanded.

You have traditional, site finished oak floors which are one of the most readily available floor types out there. If you don't want to sand and finish all the floors upstairs, install the floors in the bedroom 90 degrees to the hall so a slight change of color and or sheen will not be as noticeable. Wood look tile would not be a good look.

Cork floating floor = better option that does NOT look tacky (at least not to me...cork is my favourite wood so I'm pretty lenient with how it looks...not everyone else is so understanding).
