Miele vs Wolf/Sub-Zero - Rate their SERVICE
Comments (9)So far it seems like Sub/Zero has good reviews. pllog- you raise a good point in that I do live in a smaller city and service in general will be harder. To give an idea any showroom that i visited was at least an hour away. rima-wa- looks like you had a good experience with Mile service. I originally was looking into Gag oven but scratched that idea entirely since there are NO displays in any showroom in my state at all! Imagine servicing something like that. On a final note Wolf is about to put a Combi Steam/Convection oven on a few of our showrooms here. Since I was initially really interested in this feature maybe I should start looking in thais direction. Still there are features in the Miele oven that I really liked. Plus I think I was going to get a few pieces off the showroom floor and from the Close out section that would have priced out some of these Miele appliances a bit better. Another reason I wanted to make sure Miele service was strong...See MoreHad a Whirlpool Service Plan and appliance was not repaired?
Comments (5)I had a similar experience with Best Buy and have seen the same language in many service plans -- once they repalce, they are done. You do have the manufacturer's warranty then, but if you had a 5 year contract, you could still be left hanging a while. You have to hope the odds are that you won't get a second lemon. In my casse, it was a 3 year plan and I got left uncovered a few months longer than I'd expected on a newer machine. Then Whirlpool offered me their service plan. Given all the trouble with the Calypso, we figured that we should get the service plan and try not to replace the $2500 laundry pair for a while. To be fair, the control panel on our dryer was replaced and we had a pump and motor replaced on the washer. Apparently, on these machines, certain parts are provided at Whirlpool's expense and don't factor into their repair cost. I'd probably have a running machine if the A&E techs had properly diagnosed the problem. I had another company's tech come out and diagnose it (Hmm -- electrical part to control timer and communication issues -- not mechanical parts. Makes ssense). Trouble was, at that point, they'd ordered and paid for enough wrong parts that the cost was prohibitive. If I'd been footing the bill, I'd have felt the same way -- except, I would have had recourse against the service folks to not pay for their incompetence and to just pay for the proper repair. I could even give them the unneeded parts back for their future use.... Anywway, we are where we are with that and the service plan folks are talking to me like I'm the idiot who knows nothing and couldn't tell if the tech did the right thing or not (pretty good clue that a machine that got stuck on the cycle timer now seizes and makes horrible sounds after he works on it was not properly repaired). Anyway, we are due a replacement credit -- not a replacement, and we are at odds with how they are applying the terms there. They do have an arbitration clause -- that applies to disputes over "costs." I'm sure they invoke that to prevent anyone from coming after them snce it will make it cost more than it is worth, but my main issue is not a "costs" issue. ;-)...See MoreMiele or GE extended service contracts For my W4842 & T9822?
Comments (4)MieleÃno contest. Miele enters your machines into its database where a history of service, parts, and hours of usage are logged. Miele will also, during a service visit, review your machine for revised parts and install them should the your machine exhibit symptoms that warrant the part is updated. Our experience with Miele's techs has been exemplary....See MoreGaggenau vs. Miele kitchen appliances.
Comments (37)We have two homes which both have complete Miele appliances. From two convection ovens, six burner cooktop (one electric and one gas), a built in coffeemaker, steam oven, microwave and plate warmer, the refrigerator and dishwasher. We have never had any problems with any item. Gaggenau started making some appliances in the 1990's whilst Miele has been making appliances for almost one hundred years. I am not sure what you are saying when you wrote 'would fit a very, very skilled home cook in a average week or month', as if you are a very, very skilled home cook, these are appliances just like the ones you are using, only better. Personally, I would go for the Miele appliances over Gaggenau. The have been making appliances much, much longer than Gaggenau, owned by Bosch....See Morekaseki
