I was looking for a listing for my favorite strawberry huller, which is just a stamped and shaped piece of steel and actually works much better than a good paring knife for the purpose. This is what I found four pages in. Because the farm supply is fresh out of rice hullers... At least they're offering a discount. ;) The same page also had a couple different kinds of crank style quail egg peeler machines, but those were under $50. :)

Both my mother and my MIL downsized this year and I got a few small pottery pieces from each of them. I wanted to display them but none of them really went together and so I was looking for other pieces to set them off so I was prowling consignment stores and antique stores. So much of it was pretty but not suitable, but when a piece "spoke" to me and I thought "yes, you will set off and add to my enjoyment of my great-grandmothers water pitcher", that's when I bought something. palimpset - exactly. I agree with you. I too prowl real estate listings (used to frighten my DH) but I don't want a new house. Appreciating things does not mean having to own them. mudhouse - oh I really like that imagery of "stocking the visual library in our minds". I'm going to use that line on my DH the next time a situation arises. Then watch him try to figure what I'm saying - he won't get it, poor guy. romy718 - Perhaps like your daughter, I just want to convey my joy in seeing something that I think is, for me, pretty. I don't expect the person that I'm with to agree with me because I do know that we all have different tastes and different definitions as to what is visually pleasing. I guess I just want them to see my joy in seeing something that I find to be pretty and I want to share that - not to buy but just to stop, take a minute and enjoy looking.. Oh, and to be clear that doesn't actually happen all that often. And kevinmark - you're right ,not every gorgeous accessory is meant to buy. Comments (22)Could not agree more, compumom, about the recipes included with IP and directions. It is somewhat amazing to me how users got together on IP facebook page and worked through learning curves together. These are the books I currently have out, lizbeth-gardener LOL! I actually have read the one the compumom referenced and there is another one by Coco Morantes that you can read reviews on amazon. A few downsides to some of these recipes are a) they're all over the map regarding times and b) so complex/convoluted in an effort to be unique that they defeat the purpose of being "instant" when I need them to be. I actually made mashed potatoes from the Instant Pot Obsession; I normally IP potatoes for 4 minutes then add butter, milk etc. Great mashed potatoes. I read in this cookbook to IP with butter/milk all at once (KNOWING, just KNOWING that this didn't sound right) and ended up with great mashed potatoes but scorched pot (that you can see on the WFD thread cause I like to share my failures:) I probably didn't help you, lg, but perhaps give your daughter the one compumom referenced and also have her look at some reliable websites too:) Lorna Sass is really good from library -- she uses stovetop so different psi (may need to add time for IP), but explains stuff and her recipes are spot on. plllog -- yep, everyone's tracking everything anymore. Is Amazon there yet: do they want to crush their competitors (bad), or just keep doing better than the competition (good)? So far personally I think they are mostly on the "good" side, but things change so I'm not guaranteeing my support forever. Angela & others: A company can outsource execution of something (a component of a product, or delivery to customer's door) but that doesn't absolve them of responsibility for keeping their word. When I one-click, I expect the product to show up as Amazon promised -- correct product, good shape, on time. If it doesn't, I'm mad. What I like about Amazon is they DO take responsibility by offering refunds, etc if something went wrong in the delivery chain, all the way to me. I'm aware of efforts they are trying to deal with porch pirates -- lock boxes, that weird service where they get to enter your home -- but personally I haven't needed that yet. No! That's just a grabber. Nothing sharp. Similar size, but ... i was going to say “misses the point” as in notion, but it literally misses the point. They still make one like it, but with totally unnecessary red plastic “pads” where you hold it and less curve. They look like they make it harder to hold and control. You reach the points under the green top, pushing the in on either side of the core, then squeeze, snipping it, and pull it out. Of course the point of the thread was the rice polisher. :)

A bit off topic...but if you like lightweight house pants that can be fine for a walk and a grocery...summer weight, ...these are excellent. Surprised at the few bad reviews. If your washer/dryer is a monster that eats things, get the six pack of mesh bags. I did have my dryer rip the thin straps off my camisole straps...they get caught in the spin drum. Mesh bags solved that.
My first two-pack from Costco a half dozen years ago became favorites. Amazon to the rescue. I had just enough info on the faded label. Get one size up for loosey-goosey. 😀

This is the one from the top post. It doesn't list the weight. You should be able to infer something close from the details. I think it would come freight, not through package delivery.
