The things you find when you remodel...

Just for grins, I thought I'd ask:

What unusual things have you turned up while packing up your cupboards?

I'm finding it's one thing to clean, and another to pack. Having to carry these things into the living room, wrap the delicates, and box them all safely has made me focus on the stuff from the top shelf, which I don't use often.

Like the extra four cup measuring cup my mother gave me. And the extra four cup measuring cup my cousin gave me.

The promotional mug from my first guild. The promotional mug from my ISP. The stemmed, handmade glasses another cousin gave me that might be footed hurricanes, or gordito parfaits, or just great big goblets for big thirsts.

The 80's stemmed goblets from college which are so out of style they look positively exotic, rather than just cheap. The strange Japanese dishes (another beloved gift from a friend) that are too round on the bottom for anything that rolls, too flat for anything liquid, and too different from any other dishes I've ever owned to match anything. I use 'em for serving cold artichokes as living room snacks.

That's just from one shelf. What kinds of treasures have you found?
