Help with my Porcelain flooring choices for Florida ranch reno!

Renovating a 2200 sf Florida ranch-style home and making it open-concept. Looking at wood-look porcelain and/or a larger-format neutral-color stone-look tile. Don't want gray or dark colors. My dilemma is - I *do* want white kitchen cabinetry, and I'm wondering if iighter-colored flooring will not look great with white cabinetry. I kind of like the pale oak colors (vanilla oak, texas white ash, european oaks). Would consider pale greige wood-looks or blonde. Haven't seen any wood-look porcelains that I love yet. Anyone have any ideas? And can pale flooring and white cabinets work or just too monotone/boring?

does it have to be wood-look? some of the styles are on the outs.

however, Tilebar has some decent tiles, Kenridge wood look. comes in this and the regular

If you like the vanilla oak look, what if you went w/a limestone looking porcelain?

Thanks! I ordered some samples from Tilebar (it’s $10 for 5 now). I kind of like the Rushmore. Also liking the Tanzania white and Tanzania Almond from Porcelainosa, or their Bottega Caliza tile. They are kind of pricey though.

Eustacem, this is my dilemma--I do love the hex more but ALSO hate cleaning. So there you go. :-) Palimpsest, I have a sample of the Union Square. Color is like a golden tan/brown, not too dark. The surface is not at all shiny, looks and feels like a brick with an uneven surface. The hex tiles do seem to have a slight rounding on the edge--is this a problem? I did make sure they were suitable for flooring and not just walls. Rhome, wow--what a busy house and kitchen you must have! I hadn't really thought of the issue of cleaning an uneven surface, but I can see this tile becoming a crumb catcher (though you won't be able to see 'em, just step on them!). Pllog, traction is definitely needed with all the running...I do not mind cleaning up occasional spills as they occur, it is just the ones I don't find out about until 4 hours later and the muddy snow boots they forgot to take off at the door...perhaps I should get them each a mop to celebrate the end of the reno and teach them how to use it? There's an idea.

UPDATE Well, after much consternation, I finally decided to go ahead with this choice of flooring. I wavered, I tossed and turned, I annoyed everyone I know with my whining. Then it got down to the wire. The tile I had ordered had come in and I had to decide whether to go get it or pay a restocking fee to return it. However, so much else would be delayed if I decided to wait that it became a much bigger issue than just the tile. Then, I talked to my friend who just had to have all the tile in her house ripped up and replaced because of problems caused by poor installation. As horrible as this sounded, she said it was really no big deal. Soooo, I decided that if it turned out that I really did hate it, I would make myself live with it for a year or two and then tear it up and replace it. That would give me plenty of time to pick out something I really loved. I would chalk it up to an expensive lesson. Well, yesterday, they laid the tile (grout comes tomorrow), and . . . I LOVE IT! It's even prettier than what I remembered from the store. It's much warmer and I think it will look great with my cabs and counters. It blends in beautifully with the wood floors and paneling everywhere else. I had it done in a running bond pattern, which looks perfect. I'm still a little concerned that this stone wasn't the best choice for a kitchen (honed and unfilled), but at least I love the way it looks. And, I still have the option of tearing it out down the road if upkeep becomes too much of a hassle. I can't tell you how relieved I am. Thank you all for your reassurance during my little crisis! My son has installed Amtico vinyl by Mannington. He thinks that is a good product. I have a wood look laminate plank floor. It is very nice but I am careful with it. If it gets wet it can warp. Depends on were your putting it. It is easy to install. We are going to remodel in spring and am really considering Amtico vinyl plank. Durable,can handle water and grand kids, dog and cat. It is also a less expensive choice for us.

The bathroom has taken a turn. Print curtain, simple rug (rectangle runner), pink walls. There is chrome vanity and shower faucet and toilet paper holder that will be on the side of the vanity. Mirror, pendants and vanity pulls are gold. Question- Gold or chrome curtain rod? Would also love artwork recommendations. Thank you!

glad you got some. (didn't know they raised their prices)

I'd stay away from the striped options. once laid down, it's going to be very prominent.

I do like the Bottega tile though.

We built a house here in FL and went with tile in the main living areas and engineered wood in the bedrooms. If I could do it all over again, I’d go with LVP/LVT. We constantly fret about sand on shoes/suitcases on the bedroom floors and the tile, well, if we are stuck at home like we were for CV lockdowns and self imposed quarantine/lock downs the time you spend on the tile starts to cause pain in your feet and back. We were not happy with the tile install from the builder (different height, grout disappearing) and I said I would live with it for 10 years. so I’ll be counting down the days or replacing if we get walloped by a Hurricane. which Isn’t likely going to happen since our house is 4 years old and built for one. Meanwhile up north we are remodeling a home and putting in LVP. I suspect that after a summer on those floors, this fall back on the tile my husband might just start to consider moving the 10 year mark to less than 10. At least I can hope for it!

I shared all that because if you check out model homes here in FL more and more down here and it fits the lifestyle. Also we just had our 15mo old granddaughter here and she fell and banged her head a few times and I was just cringing. I don’t want to fall on this floor as I age.

Alwayscold - do you wear shoes/sandals on your tile or go barefoot? We have tile and wear house shoes. Agree with stress regarding engineered wood floors we have in bedrooms. Now considering all tile for potential new home.
