Glacier National Park

I picked this little tree up for my Mom at a craft fair 40 years ago. Ornaments are tiny shells from Sanibel Island in Florida. Now mine, it’s one of my most precious decorations at Christmas.

Tree of Lost Soles or Shoe Tree near Prince Rupert, BC.

Nobody knows why people leave their shoes here. One fellow says it started when he was young. Kids would ride their bikes to this part of the woods to a path that leads to the water. The path was often quite muddy so they’d take their shoes off and hang them on the tree next to their bikes until they returned. Locals would see shoes there and started a tradition of leaving a pair of shoes behind if they moved away from the area. It was sort of like leaving a bit of yourself behind.

Kousa Dogwood planted in honor of the 2005, 50/1 long shot, Kentucky Derby winner, Giacomo. The limbs so laden with blossoms they almost touched the ground. This picture was taken in 2019. Last year it had 3 blossoms. Go figure.

Our American Elm in 2008 on the decline. When we moved here in 1998 it was a magnificent tree.

2 years later, completely gone. The day before we had it cut down.

Which one to choose? I love trees and have so many in various seasons.

lgmd, I can't get over the size of your American Elm tree!! That man at the base looks like an ant!!! So sorry you lost it. :(

Murraysmom, that man is my husband. The elm was planted in the early 1920's by the people that we bought our lot from.
