Laundry room help please
Comments (7)Gates1, thank you for your post. We were actually going to include the bathroom in the laundry room but the builder and my daughter talked me out of it. At least we have easy access. The dryer vent will actually blow out onto the walkway between the porch and the garage which for me is OK. It won't be often that we will be entertaining and have the dryer going while cooking out. :) We are going to add a door from that walk way into the garage, too. I talked about bumping that entire breakfast nook, pantry and W/D area out about 2 feet but DH says I'm pushing my budget as it is so I better not or I'll be selling kidneys before this is over!!! LOL I think we will love it as long as there are no MAJOR issues. I drew the original plan myself and the builder only adjusted a few things. I've spent a year thinking and planning so when it came time it was really fairly simple. Thank you again and if anyone else has ideas please feel free to comment. If you're anything like me my happiest days are when I come in filthy and have been working in the yard and flower beds all day! Sunny...See MoreLaundry Room Help Needed please!
Comments (6)I think your ideas are great. Once you paint and get your fabric treatments up it will look entirely different. I would definitely put blue on the walls for some punch. You won't see much of it, so a bolder color would be just fine. I realize that your wire organizers above the washer and dryer are handy, but would a compartmentalized basket or 3 baskets sitting on the file cabinet work well for you? It would be a pretty storage piece and add to the country feeling you're going for. You could also put a tray style basket on top of the freezer to hold/hide necessities. Have you thought about burlap for the curtains? What is more country than that! It works your tan into the scheme, is tough, and would look so pretty with an accent fabric sown on the bottom and/or edges. A tan denim would work well, too. Instead of stencils, you could hang a couple of cute plaques using those Command adhesive things on the door and a cabinet front or two. I know that TJMaxx/Homegoods always has some items in the primitive/country style (not necessarily laundry themed). Here is one in the link below that's kind of cute. I just wouldn't go overboard. I just love it when someone makes a utilitarian space pretty. I'm a big fan of "use what you have", so I think you are doing a great job! Comments (5)Thanks everyone. I really appreciate all the advice. I am currently getting quotes on a tankless water heater. Mine is a 18 years old gas system. If I can create enough space for a countertop or bench that really adds value to the room and justifies the extra cost, I will upgrade. Otherwise, enclosing a new traditional water heater is also a possibility, since I’ll likely replace this one very soon. I was thinking of stacking the washer and dryer so we could have a bench to sit on to tie our shoes or wait on. However, I believe my dryer duct and electrical cord for the washer could reach it I did side-by-side. I like the look of a side-by-side with a counter over the washer and dryer, and perhaps if I upgrade to a tankless system, do a corner bench where the current traditional water tank is? We also have that big white cabinet next to the stairs to go into the kitchen which we could do something with. That is poorly put together and needs to be fixed....See Moremy living room needs your help please
Comments (473)Wanted to wish every one a Merry Christmas..this is out my kitchen window. I am presently restoring my great grandfathers kitchen table (100+ yrs old) that I came across in my late father’s shed. Then we’ll work on a new re decor of another room, still loving my living room. Hanging ivy’s are thriving well in their spots and received a 10x12 photo taken of a purple thistle flower bordered in navy blue taken near The Royal Palm Visitors Center Everglades National Park signed by photographer. Very proud of this gift. Going to add to my collection. Safe and joyful holiday season to you all, Alice...See MoreCami's Mom
