Help! party tonight...hardboiled eggs left unrefrigerated
Comments (62)The reason that can happen in Europe is that the eggs there are not subject to the same kind of washing process they are here, which washes off a protective natural film outside the shell. Some info, not to argue or persuade, just interesting: Hard boiled eggs Again, not to argue, but when people tell me they have been doing things for years and everything has been OK, I think of loaded guns in the living room, HIV, rhythm birth control, no vaccinations, and similar risks where everything is OK until it's not....See MoreAre you eating eggs since the recall ?
Comments (35)Although I don't eat anywhere near as many eggs as I used to, I haven't quit eating eggs because of the recall. Haven't really gone out for breakfast since the recall though I've wanted to. Many restaurants around here have been having issues getting eggs and in just the last couple of days they expanded the recall again. I know the percentage of chickens with salmonella is high as it is so it only makes sense that eggs would have some too. But when cooked properly there's no issue. Guess there's the age old question, which came first, salmonella in the chicken or in the egg?...See MoreProtein Powders
Comments (16)A smoothie that is all carbs needs some protein in it for sure and some healthy fats. Also, whey protein (dairy based) can cause an insulin rise more than other proteins in women so maybe try a plain, unsweetened, plant based protein instead. If you go to GNC or health food store, they can direct you to an unsweetened plant based protein. They typically are 100 calories per serving but keep you fuller longer. I also recommend using unsweetened coconut or almond milk as the smoothie base. At only 40 calories a cup, it adds some nice calcium and taste for less calories. If you really want to drop some weight, I would highly recommend either of these books: The blood sugar solution or 10 day detox by Hyman. Real unprocessed food, lots of vegetables and great recipes my whole family loves. The weight literally falls off and you won’t be hungry. It’s not magic or gimmick based but teaches you how to eat without the garbage. Good luck....See MoreHow do you like your eggs?
Comments (46)I should have photographed all the pages. A version of Ricky's was listed remember called something '...in a Hat'. Finishing the toasted cut-out piece on top to serve. I really like all the South American egg scrambles. This book was discussed at work so we all shared our favorites. A Brazilian and a Venezuelan I discovered like the same 'variegated'. Similar to the country style pic above. (my Brazilian friend calls them variegated). Makes sense. Pan medium, melt a small pat of butter. Crack in pan two eggs, turn down heat to low. Cook low and slow until whites solidify, no crispy edges. Yolk still tender runny. Add tbsp fresh salsa, chopped avocado...or any handy veg, spinach, etc., a bit of crumbled queso or feta. Stir folding so the egg white and yolk yellow are not a fast scramble...variegated. Even just a simple quick egg I prefer this way. A bit of dill is nice. I like the flavor of the yolk even if partially cooked....See More- 5 years ago
