When the Sidebottom family approached designers Trent Letwiniuk and Stephen Barnecut with the request for an indoor slide in their new home, the designers were like kids careening down a, well, slide. “I’d never done one before and was really excited,” says Letwiniuk. “It’s nice working with people who want cool things in their house.”

Getting it approved by the city wasn’t a smooth ride, though. They lucked out with an accommodating inspector, and compromised with a carpeted surface for the slide rather than a slippery material, which was deemed too dangerous.
Letwiniuk says he didn’t want to make the addition too steep, just steep enough so that with a little oomph you could get some good momentum going down. (And we imagine that using a slick sleeping bag as a toboggan would produce incredible results.)
He also says the construction was fairly simple and inexpensive. “It was basically just a framed wood plank that was sculpted and shaped to fit onsite,” he says.

Though the project was completed around the beginning of 2012, Letwiniuk and Barnecut, partners at Inertia Corporation, only got around to uploading the project today after having photographed it two weeks ago.
“We’ve been active for 10 years and have been wanting to fatten up our content on Houzz,” Letwiniuk says. “We’re going to showcase the stuff we’re most proud of, and this was the first one we chose to put up. There will be more to come.”
