Chihuly at the NYBG. This was by far my favorite. I used a close-up of it for my holiday card one year...

I cant say that it is very different from the love I feel for my daughter and sons. But, there is a special happiness from knowing our family is expanding to another generation. Our three kids are now 37, 34 (DD) and 29. We privately wondered if we would ever be blessed with grandchildren. The two boys (I should probably call them men at this point) are still light years from marriage. We are hoping DD and SIL will have another. He is from a family of four kids and his sister is having a fourth child, so SIl’s family culture is for larger families. . Fingers crossed!

A painting from Key West, FL. I went to see the Hemingway House and this artist was set up and painting outside on the street. I loved his work and bought this piece. It hangs over my bed. I love the colors and the feeling it evokes.

I had my first child in December of ‘91. My MIL was finally able (after leaving in late forties). To go back to her country in the summer of ‘92. That’s a whole other political discussion. It was a huge deal. My husband and older SIL went with her.

Apparently one of the older relatives heard that I was nursing my baby. She sent this back with him for me! All of the young mothers wanted to use formula. They were hungry, I guess, to join the “modern world”.

It’s one of the most touching gifts I’ve ever received, from someone I never knew.

Today is also Ground Hog Day. This is a wood carving that stands in front of the Punxsutawney Library where Phil and Philamena live. They have their own quarters inside the library just off the children's department.

And he did see his shadow this morning - so 6 more weeks of winter.

The Dewey Weber statue in Hermosa Beach. Someone dressed it up this summer.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, Statue of Our Lady Of Fatima.

I got to see this statue when it came to Cincinnati. The statue is taken around the world to various cities for display, in order to spread Mary's message of hope, peace and salvation.

Yes Lars, his work is very distinctive.

If I had a larger foyer, I'd love to get one of his chandys ... they are so stunning.
