Black countertops casting a gray hue on white tile

I love my black countertop but am having a heck of a time finding the right white tile for the backsplash. I have sampled loads of white tile and they all seem to look gray against the black counter, especially on overcast days. Of course on a bright, sunny day the lighting is perfect and the tile looks white. Unfortunately I live in Northeast Ohio where overcast days are typical and we have long, dreary winters. I do not want my kitchen to look like a dreary Ohio day. I have one medium-sized window in the kitchen that faces East. The kitchen is semi open to the rest Of the house, so I wanted something simple and versatile. Should I keep looking for white, or should I ditch the white backsplash all together and go with a different color? For some reason pictures that I take Do Not represent what I see with my eye. They photograph much warmer than in real life. I’ll try to attach a more realistic photo if I can.
