May I see your black/gray/brown laminate countertops?
Comments (10)Mine is Formica "Rosso Granite". It has dark brown, dark reddish and grey in it and is a pretty close "match" for the deco accent tiles on my floor and in my backsplash. The pictures are on the dark side (ha!), but my cabinets are being painted China White "as we speak". I loved the look of granite, the natural stones, and even concrete, but the price difference is going to be at least part of a trip to vinyards in Italy or France!!...See Moredark cabs, light counters. show me your paint or splashes.
Comments (23)I am new to this forum. We're in the final stages of building a new house (only wish I knew about you guys sooner!) and I love seeing all of your awesome work! We put in espresso stained rift oak slab front cabinets (not too far off of celticmoon's awesome refinishing of her 20 year old oak cabinets!). Our paint we chose is BM Timothy Straw (2149-40) which is a goldish-lime green color. It is bright, but not too bright for our taste. I think we'll love it in our Seattle November weather! We also chose it (over 15 other test paints ranging from tan to gold to sage and even some blues) because it goes really well with the yellow-orange tones of the VG fir woodwork and Red Birch floors in the attached great room. I am SO happy every time I see it!!! Our backsplash will be a blend of 2x12 glass sticks, laid horizontally in a random brick/stick pattern, from Statements Flow Glass line (link below). It's mostly a blend of Glacier, Pepper and Ivory with 5% Mint and Chocolate added for little pops of color. Countertops are my next decision...I know I want light, but am not sure if I'll go for natural stone or quartz yet. I lost my camera battery charger this weekend, but will take some pics of the house once I have my new one and am charged up! :) Deb in Seattle Here is a link that might be useful: Statements Flow Glass line...See MoreBlack/dary grey vs white quartz countertop
Comments (1)I have both, Cambria Brittanicca on my perimeter cabs, and Cambria Ella on my island - both are white quartz. The smudges drive me nuts and they don't come off with a damp paper towel wipe. You really need to rub them out, or use one of their recommended cleaning products (I use Lysol disinfectant wipes) to get it all off. No idea how black compares....See MoreDark grey vs White quartz counter with dark hardwood floors
Comments (38)HI joshua123, The kitchen tile is from Pratt & Larson. It is a custom waterjet mosaic piece in marble. The color is a dark grey with a lot of variation. the exact color is bardiglio. the white boarder and interior boarded are snow white marble. kathy and Micah at pratt & lason were extremely helpful finding exactly what I wanted for our kitchen. I'll have to post a couple more pictures from a sunny day, as the ones I have posted dont really reflect the real colors. as far as style and mosaics being dated or not, I'm a firm believer that you should go with what you love and what speaks to you. you are going to be living in the house and walking into that kitchen every day. I dont think our kitchen mosaic looks dated at all, but I'm also not a designer. I can tell you it makes me happy when I walk in to make my morning coffee in that room. I did consider using more of that tile to cover the entire backspace area from the cooktop to the hood, as diana illustrated in some of her photos, to really give it a more modern look, but it was too expensive to justify in this house....See Moredrainbead
