Is this light fixture too small for our entry way?
Comments (2)We're just across the water from you. :-) That is a very cool fixture, but I think you're right to be concerned about its small size in the scale of your room, especially because of the 10 ft ceilings. Our entry is 8'6" x 10' with 9 ft ceilings and next to our stairway. Our fixture is about 15" in diameter by 12" in ht. The size works with the scale of the room, but the one bulb is not as bright as I'd wish it to be. Your selection may offer more down-light, though. We have nice, bright recessed lighting in the hallway directly in front of this space, and, of course, stairway lighting, but I don't think those really improve the entry lighting situation very much. Determining the right size and scale for lighting fixtures was one of the biggest challenges. I'm jealous of your Hubbardton Forge fixtures...They're, by far, my favorites, but wouldn't fit in our budget. Enjoy, and best wishes!...See MoreNeed help with a small entry way. Comments (7)I don't mind the table and mirror and can't really think of anything besides art that would fit on that wall. Can't see the table details well but could it be painted? How about red to match your lovely door? What would say "fresh and cozy" to you for that space? Have you thought of a new light fixture? A runner and a larger rug in the entrance could look good. I don't find the clock visible from the door to be welcoming so I'd be tempted to remove it....See MoreLong Living Room Arrangement help! Windows + Entry ways
Comments (5)I guess even if we do just one sofa in the far area (since we will eventually get rid of the pullout couch), what kind of set up would make sense for the entry way? Even if we are looking at getting new furniture....See MoreEntry way help needed
Comments (14)I’m feeling like I should have checked in with HOUZZers before ordering anything! You’re all sending me great thoughts…lesson learned. Since my move here, I’ve wanted a rug. But I love my floors (then why do I want to cover them?) …I wanted to add color. We’ve removed the old-world looking swivel chairs from the wine closet and put up our wine barrel (came from our home in fingerlakes wine region). I do feel that the entry is dark after the sun goes over the house and I wanted a welcoming feel in the foyer…thinking rug, table, lamp. A mirror would not reflect the gate because it would be in the same wall. The table I ordered is going to really fill that space and perhaps the scale won’t be right. The rug? I probably didn’t make the best choice on either. The rug should arrive this week so I’ll post pictures upon arrival. Table is going to take 16-20 weeks, perhaps I have time to reconsider or look for another spot for it. Please keep the ideas coming! I really appreciate all the suggestions....See Morelkloes
