Only Full Bathroom, Remodel to Walk In shower only?
Comments (2)I am currently doing this to our guest bathroom. the way I look at is that you live in the house and should be designed to make you happy. Mine has a crappy little tub that is only used by guest to stand in when they shower, typically my mom and mother in law in their 70s. I am ripping it all out and putting in a travertine shower with a glass wall and walk in door with hand rails to make it easy on the gals. No more stepping over a tub and fumbling with a cheesy shower curtain. I am putting in a fold up teak shower seat and a hand wand shower head for them as well but could easily be used by adult in the future to wash an infant. I think if you do a well thought out layout with quality materials the majority of people will like that more than a less than interesting bathroom with a little tub in it. You could also add a nice hot tub outside in the future. The vast majority of people in the USA prefer showers and many NEVER take baths. Folks told me not to take my 5th bedroom and connect to my wife's master closet to make her the ultimate chick room because 5 bedrooms are hard to find in my area. Let me tell you, the good will that gigantic closet with built-ins generates from my wife to me every morning she goes in there is priceless....See MoreTiny Bathroom Remodel Completed

Comments (23)Monica, that floor is gorgeous in her inspiration photo!! The tile showrooms (at least here in the Northeast) are all showing dozens of wood/tile varieties. I'm sure she could find several wide pine options like her Photo. I would do real wood anywhere except a bathroom. I was afraid of the moisture on it. Have her post updates here! Farmhouse coastal is a gorgeous look. I redid my kitchen 3 years ago with New England coastal theme and still love it as much as I did on day 1! Last night, I took my first bath in the new bathroom and love the tub and how deep it is. Haven't tried the handheld yet......See MoreTiny Bathroom remodel. Open to ideas... and removing a walls
Comments (12)That does not look like a load bearing wall to me. I would expect to see studs in the middle, or a header at the top. Here is a drawing of a small bathroom renovation I am doing right now. The room is only 5'x6' but I am squeezing a shower in there too. I bought a wall mount toilet and wall mount sink to save space and keep the floor open. Combined with large format tiles I am hoping it will make the room look bigger. Just to give you some food for thought. Definitely get rid of that wall to open things up. Also consider a smaller vanity so it doesn't take up so much of the room. Maybe a bigger mirror behind it and some wall shelves to make up the storage....See More- 3 years ago
