Replace 30 cooktop with 36" without gutting cabinets?
Comments (3)Sounds like you are doing enough work to the kitchen that it would actually be more cost effective to order all new cabinets designed for the configuration that you desire than to try to modify what's there. The labor to do all of that will be prohibitive, and you won't even end up with what you really want. As in yes, the contractor is correct. There is no good way to fit a 36" cooktop in a 30" cabinet without compromising it;s structural integrity and the support of the countertop above....See MoreCan we replace windows without having to replace shutters?
Comments (17)I have expensive inside mount shutters over kitchen sink area....3 panes across. The window installer said I had to hire a company to take out and replace the shutters before installing new windows. The windows will be removed from the outside of the house, not inside. I just don't trust the shutters being removed and replaced correctly after all this moving around. I live in Maryland and the existing windows I want replaced are 27 years old. Is anyone using a national window company to deal with this problem successfully WITHOUT removing shutters?...See MoreReplacing under sink kitchen cabinet floor
Comments (6)Is the subfloor wet or is that grease? I would remove the resin paper, clean up, dry thoroughly. Then two coats of pigmented shellac (BIN in the red can) to seal in any lingering odor. To replace the bottom, glue & screw cleats to the side of the cabinet and plop down new 3/4" plywood (not particle board, not MDF, not OSB. Nail the plywood to the cleats. You can caulk the seams, prime & paint the plywood. Add some sheet vinyl flooring cut to size, stick down vinyl tile, or even just some heavy vinyl coated wallpaper. I've even used the vinyl material from quality roll-up window shades for shelf liner. Looks like an easy replacement since the cabinets appear to be frameless. Saves you the problem of having to pop off the front face frame. No need to anchor the new bottom to the floor. That's just extra work; the old bottom wasn't connected to the floor...or, if it was, it didn't need to be....See Morereplacing apron front farmhouse sink without replacing quartz top
Comments (9)I am an expert; I replace sinks for a living. I just did your job: You aren't going to crack your engineered stone countertop or affect the seam. The good news is that it appears you have frameless cabinets. Back the screws out of the blocking, throw it in the trash, drive a stiff scraper between the bottom of the top and the sink flange, then take a rubber mallet to the inside of the sink and drive it out the front. Spend $300.00 on a Pete's Sink Mount kit and install it. Set the fireclay sink on it, silicone the flange, and raise the sink with a cordless drill until it kisses the stone bottom. Windex the squeeze-out and you're done. The Pesimoki is key to a job with a heavy fireclay sink; I don't care what the sink manufacturer specifies....See Moreks0012
