Paint Design Dilemma

Please help with exterior paint colour

Hi there...I am not happy with the front of our home. I think the sidelights need to be changed to something more simple and I'm not sure if the house colour is too dark or the trim is too light, or both. Either way I'm not sure the colours flatter the windows. Overall, I feel the front is a little plain and dull. Please suggest ideas if you have some! Thank you!

I’m not an expert, but I think the problem is the body color, looking like muddy cement. . Changing the window trim to match it might calm down the busy-ness of the exterior, but won’t solve the main problem, in my humble opinion.

I think the sidelights and front door are fine. I find the house color lifeless.

Ummm.... what parts are stucco, that 2nd triangle section from the right? I honestly think your colors look excellent as is. If you lighten that triangular piece its going to stick out like a sore thumb - do you really want that? Right now it recedes and your eye isnt drawn to it, the lovely brickwork has more prominence. I do agree however that your door area could use some attention but the red door is all you need (definitely stain it if its currently unpainted - a classier finish IMHO) . If you start adding in more or different trim colors Im not sure what that accomplishes except adds visual clutter.

Oh and I should add that this isn’t how the landscaping currently looks. We had just removed overgrown bushes, which have now been replaced. This is just the only photo I have on hand at the moment.

Maybe paint or limewash the brick (look into pro’s and con’s) and paint the house the same shade. https://www.greysnaildesigns.com/limewash-your-brick-house With your roof’s color, perhaps a dark grey or black front door and garage would work well.

Do you think the white trim is too sharp in contrast to the dark windows? I think the white is too white. Should I match the trim more to the house colour eventually?

How about jazzing up the landscaping? You could use a fabulous and well chosen tree (Crape myrtle? Japanese maple?) that matures at about 20-30 ft, with 3 seasons of interest, anchoring the right front corner -but placed appropriately distanced from the house- and a complimentary but smaller showpiece shrub or small tree on the left. Add a bit of landscaping deeper into your front yard and you might have the pizzazz you you’re looking for.

Red geraniums on balcony and in pots on porch, tree and shrub... just for thinking outside the box. But still classic.
