I think a gallery of family photos would look great on that wall! Maybe five max frames in a varied-height pattern. I have three mini galleries on small walls in my hallway. I prefer this over the clutter that 14 framed photos would great on shelves or a dresser. And it's like all the family is together (I'm a dork lol). I also mix in other small pieces of art for variety. I'll post pics in a few minutes.

I never like family photos in public spaces IMO they work best in hallways leading to more private spaces and that dresser loks exactly as what it is , a dresser tha belongs in a bedroom. You could do the photos going down the stairs I guess. There is no nessessity to fill every wall and space with something IMO at best a plant where the dresser is and thats it, Since you mention the long wall could you take a pic of that whole wall? You need IMO some art with color and you could even hang one piece where you have the dresser. Mirrors should always reflect something worth seeing twice BTW.

I think the dresser with the mirror feels more suitable for a bedroom, so adding photos above with be much nicer and consider a simple grid layout; keep it simple as a collage here could feel too busy. (Try your mirror in foyer, hallway, powder room or bedroom.)

Decide on frame size and then determine number/look that you prefer and tape out if you have to. Ikea has really inexpensive frames and to get the look above (which feels modern and interesting), you can buy Bristol board at a craft store and cut out appropriately for the photo - off set vs placing in middle.

If it were me, I’d paint the dresser back so it looks less like a dresser and accessorize. Down the road, perhaps you could replace dresser with a console, etc

That is a hmmmm.....maybe - maybe not. Do you have any of the pics framed. If so, put it up with a command strip to see how you like it.

ok Shirlpp, yes maybe a photo ledge of 3 different levels of photos. Good idea.

I’m with Patricia on this - the dresser looks out of place and so does the mirror. Do you have to have a piece of furniture there?

If you want to display family photos, Maureen has great suggestions. You could display 3 or 6 like her second picture - framed and matted the same with the photos in subdued, similar coloring. Her display looks classy.

Don’t continue it onto the wall where the blue drapes are, unless you are doing a single row.

I agree with others here - the dresser doesn't feel quite right. I also agree with Patricia Colwell - family photos usually fit best in a somewhat more private space than more public ones. Maureen posted a fantastic display of photos/artwork and a great tabletop tableau.

Ericalynn thanks for your opinion! yes you're right a mix of big and small frames might look great for that space. I'd love to see the inspiration pics you're thinking of.

I personally bought the dresser and mirror for this space as we don't have a foyer and need somewhere to put the little things while heading out the door. I think I will go with something clean looking for frame arrangement so it doesn't look tight and cluttered. Appreciate your thoughts!

The concept of "public vs. private spaces" in a home seems very outmoded to me. A home, now more than ever, is a place to create your very own nest, and if you want to display your lovely family throughout, it's absolutely fine. In fact, it sure beats hanging "art" that matches the sofa or other such nondescript and soulless items. I love your thought to display your photos, and Maureen's shared arrangements look great. Go for it.

I like your dresser. Picture it a rich color with new hardware that picks up something else in the room. Maybe a different mirror with a frame that matches the new hardware.

Kristy you do what works for you and makes you happy, especially as we're spending more time in our homes these days! I like my gallery to look collected over time so all the frames are different and may or may not actually go together but I sure do like them. I like to frame the photos/art based on the piece and not based on the room they're going in since the room or the picture location could change at some point. I'll try posting my pics again!
