How large can a picture window be?

We are picking out windows for our new home. My builder likes to use Atrium vinyl windows. We met with the salesman at our home and he told us the largest picture window with no mulling he can make is either 5' wide by 8' tall or 6' wide by 7' tall.

We have a large opening in our family room where we want a solid glass picture window with no mulling or divided lights. The size is 6' wide by 8' tall so we will have to have a mulled transom on top or else a vetical mull in the middle, since it is too large to get just plain glass.

Just wondering if we could get that size window with no mulling by using another type of window like a wood or aluminum.

Thanks for any help with this. I am sure I am not using the mulling terms properly. But you know what I mean!
