White Hexagon Floor Tiles - What Color Grout Did You Choose?
Comments (7)Thanks! It was a nightmare DIY project (moved shower and toilet locations which involved gutting the floor and beefing up the joists and tying into old 1926 plumbing. Ugh.) but we loved the result, especially at the ~$1200 price tag! Believe it or not, it's about the cheapest Lowes/Home Depot tile you can get. I really wanted the classic small penny tile but I couldn't afford it! I can't remember the brand... I just searched on line but can't find it. It's ceramic, and is actually an octagon-and-dot style in all white (it's more common and home-depot looking in the black and white pattern, around here.) I think the repeating pattern is about 4" x 4" and it's on 12" sheets. It was very afordable and the finished look was great. It also feels nice on bare feet, and was easy to keep clean. Sorry I don't know the exact brand/stule. We moved and I left the extras for the new owners......See MoreGrout Color for White and Black Hex Floor?
Comments (4)I'll definitely try to get a hold of a sample of Silver Shadow as I can see from responses here and posts elsewhere that it is quite popular. I'd still love to hear from anyone regarding Warm Grey, Smoke Grey and Mobe Pearl. How do they range in terms of light to dark? Which comes closest in tone to Misty Grey, which seemed like a good color, but too dark? I want to avoid any blueness (so don't think Platinum would work), while also steering clear of too much beige (Mobe Pearl?). Thanks for the comments so far!...See MoreWhite subway tile backsplash. What color grout? Black? White?
Comments (27)I have the Subway Ceramics Avalon / Minas with a medium gray grout. And a Shaw's white sink, if anyone is considering that, by the way. (My contractor could have ordered it directly, but at his request, I went through a tile store, and by the time everyone had put their sugar onto it, it was OBSCENELY expensive.) I'm not an installation expert, but at least with the Subway Ceramics, the installers use little plastic spacers between the tiles (I think some others have their own spacers?) when they put them up, they don't do it freehand, so how much grout you get is a function of 1) the limits set by the curvature of the tile and 2) what size spacers they use. So you might be willing to go a little darker with a smaller grout line, or with a handmade tile that refuses to go close together, you might want to stay light. The traditional color is close to concrete. But most modern people don't seem to like that, so do what pleases you!...See MoreTEC Power Grout? What color grout for white subway tiles in bathroom
Comments (6)Guest bathroom shower surround, glossy white tiles, "regular" TEC grout, 2008 I think. MB and hall bathroom tub surrounds, glossy white tiles, TEC XT grout, 2011. No issues. The XT grout doesn't require sealing, but can be, using a solvent based sealer. We have moderately hard water. We wipe down the tub surrounds with a microfiber cloth after showering (to prevent water spots on the glossy tile). I clean the bathrooms pretty much weekly. I spray the tub surrounds with 7th Generation disinfecting bathroom cleaner spray. Let sit a few minutes, and wipe dry with a microfiber cloth. Tile and grout look as they did when first installed....See MoreTonya B
