For sure, I'd center the table under the light fixture. What is your budget? You need texture and color, If you can, new rug, large and square piece of art on the long wall, a larger, more substantial chandelier, and big plant in the corner would really help to complete the space. Also - restyle the top of the buffet - a taller lamp on one side, and hang the decorative piece vertically on the other side (just a few inches above the buffet). Add a large glass bowl or something to finish it off (the small pictures do not really fit there). If you still have some $$ left over, I'd go with upholstered chairs.

Currently everything is horizontal, without much personality. First, I would look for large pieces of vertical art to use on the back wall - something with color and that reflects your personality. Then get a slightly larger rug with some pattern and color. Place the lonely chair at the table and remove the plant, or put the plant on the buffet for some height.

Very nice space, but the scale of items is off IMO.

A much larger patterned rug would anchor the dining area and add some texture and color. This color complements the warm tones of the dining set.

The mirror adds no visual interest to the space and so a large canvas could provide a better view.

The chandelier is really sized incorrectly for this space and should be much larger.

Place the extra chair next to the buffet and replace with a tall tree.

I've learned that if a mirror isn't reflecting something pretty, better to put art on the wall to create a "view."

Is the wall to the right green? I think the walls would look great painted that color and would add contrast to the wood tones of your dining room furnishings......

Beverly, where did you find that fiddle fig tree in your mock up?

Wallpaper, coffered ceilings, and a larger chandelier are a great place to start.

Depending on the scale of the tree you can sometimes boost the height of the tree by placing it inside a taller planter. I do this all the time with my trees.

Perhaps trying some artwork on the wall instead of the mirror would help.
