I need help choosing between Behr Swiss Coffee and Sherwin Williams Alabaster for my kitchen cabinets and walls. We love rustic farmhouse style. These two colors are very similar. As you can see by comparing the key color attributes: hue, value, chroma and LRV. Where they differ the most is hue family - and a little in terms of chroma. Swiss Coffee is closer to the yellow-red hue family. Which means it's going to look creamier, more ivory than Alabaster. Alabaster is on the other side of 5Y which is the middle of the yellow hue family. In comparison to Swiss Coffee, Alabaster is closer to the green-yellow hue family. Which is why it's going to look more "just white". Also, Swiss Coffee has a smidge more chroma - it's a tiny bit more colorful than Alabaster. Which means Alabaster is technically more neutral than Swiss Coffee. Because of the difference in hue family, "just white" vs. "creamier", and chroma smidge more colorful vs. smidge more neutral, Alabaster is going to meet your idea of what a Farmhouse White is supposed to look like the most. I'd choose Alabaster. Bigger.

Hire someone to do taping +skim coat if you cant manage it - paint color is really an insignificant consideration compared to obvious visible flaws in drywalling. People WILL see it. I would not spend time and money on trying to conceal the flaws with paneling or whatever - just get the finish right and leave it at that. Keep it simple. BTW the drywall should have been hung vertically with the edges where 2 pieces meet fastened onto a stud. That way you don't get that ridge where the 2 pieces meet As a soon to be buyer, it irks me when I see a house with amateur workmanship and then Im supposed to pay more for the supposed upgrade. Sorry to be blunt, but it really is something you might hear from a buyer.

Bevin, we did finish building at the end of 2022 and decided to go with a color instead of white. I spent A LOT of time considering exterior color scheme and wound up coming to three conclusions: 1. The white farmhouse with metal roof look is classic and always looks good on an actual farmhouse (or house in a rural setting). 2. The white farmhouse look is very trendy right now and will date your home if you are going with that look in a suburban or neighborhood setting. Meaning that it will always be obvious that you built your home when the white farmhouse look was all the rage if you aren't building it in the country. 3. Definitely don't go with black trim on that white farmhouse if you don't want it to look dated/trendy later. Also, I do feel like the white is going to require more maintenance to keep it looking pristine. If you live in an area with heavier, red clay soil you will struggle to keep your foundation clean if you go with a white/lighter color. Good luck!
