Comments (22)Obviously, the original post has resolved itself one way or another, many years ago. However, just in case others in a similar situation happen along and read this: Babysitting at age 12? Before you allow your child to do this, OR hire a 12 year old sitter for the most precious things in your live, good idea to check the laws in your locale. It's illegal in my state, for children under the age of 13 to either babysit (including siblings) or to be left home alone. Of course, that's not a law that's enforced many times, BUT if something were to happen when a 12 year old were left in charge of children, there could be serious legal ramifications (one of which is that the children can be taken away from the parents). Also, no matter how responsible a 12 year old is, are they educated in advanced first aid? Do they know how to recognize and handle a household emergency (do they know how to turn off the water, the electric, how to replace a fuse?) could a 12 year old protect herself and a couple of children if the house were broken into by some grown men while they were there? She certainly couldn't pack the kids into the car if an ER run became necessary. Personally? I'm not a big fan of letting young teens babysit because they don't have the education or life experiences to handle the kinds of situations listed above. The one exception might be, if the young teen were sitting for the next door neighbor, and her mom was home to help if needed....See MoreDo you watch Mad Men?
Comments (8)We've watched all of the episodes and watched the (recorded) premier of this season yesterday afternoon. I think it's a big mistake to draw this out over so much time. I can't 'place' the guy who replaced Don nor remember how Ken (?) lost his eye. I liked Don's flight seatmate saying her late husband died of thirst. (It was impossible to see her eyes under all that -- very authentic -- makeup.) I appreciated the ending, with Don unable to escape into a bottle -- and unable to close his apartment's frozen-open sliders. He's put himself 'out in the cold', alone. We shouted with glee to see Megan driving an Austin Healey 3000. (Mine was blue.) She even had a line about being unable to move the seat -- so true....See More"mad libs" - auto-correct and/or spell check style??
Comments (8)I received this long, kind of esoteric text from my 7 year old grandson. He doesn't have a phone, but I figured he was watching something on his tablet and decided to text me. It was a bit troubling to me because he's a good communicator and speller, but some of the things he wrote were a bit morose and I got worried about why he was feeling that way. The next day when I saw him, I asked him about it and what was going on when he texted me. "Oh, g'ma, you know those words that pop up when you're writing? I just clicked on those words that came up!" It was pretty funny, when I realized that's what he'd done, written a whole text with autosuggest. Now when he does it (only a couple of times since) I text his parents and tell them he's drunk texting again....See Moreamylou321
