Reinstall the triangulating brace please. No one's going to trip.

It's possible to run all-thread from the floor framing, a spacer, through the balustrade, and tighten it at the top, but that's a lot of work.

Yes, those do look like tripping hazards. Hopefully someone will chime in that can give you some ideas.

The only option I can think of besides reinstalling the braces or replacing the whole thing is to install a post on the outside of each baluster location (and maybe even between). You would need to lag bolt them to the landing and connect them to the balusters and/or railing. It would take some work to integrate them cosmetically with what you have there.

So that was a mess I agree but this is really in need of proper install with bracing done right

I think placing a tall plant at each cross brace location would make it less of a tripping hazard, if you choose your plants so that the foliage is at eye level.

Either posts at the wall and in-between. Or, as mentioned above, threaded rods into the floor framing.

I've already done so, it's just that there are few inexpensive alternatives.

I've done a similar job previously. I had to run all thread through a stand-alone 4" diameter pipe to hold up a countertop peninsula. The all thread ran through blocking perpendicular to the basement ceiling joists to the top of the pipe. The pipe was scribed to the tile floor for plumb. When the nut was tightened, the solitary pipe was virtually immovable.

The same could be done here. No triangulated trip hazards and the rail won't budge, however, it's not gonna be cheap.

Maybe replace the brackets/tripping hazards with a 4x4 wooden post where the brackets are, bolt 4x4 to the floor and brackets attached to the railing. Less of a tripping hazard. Paint them black to match the metal. You will just have to figure out a good way to bolt them into floor really well.

This may work. We have wood columns and beams so adding wood post would go and wouldnt have to paint black, thanks!!
