We are doing a 56" and doing one sink. Depending on your sink choices you might look for a larger then average sink size. Kohler makes some sq sinks, and others that are larger then the standard oval type sink. I want to put a 30x36 mirror over this vanity and DH says that mirror is too small. (lights going over the top because of elect. mistake. (I was going to put on sides) I think it will be about right. Any thoughts?? P.s. and I can't turn it to the 36x30 because it has a small trim on the bottom.

A few years ago we installed a 60" vanity with 2 undermount rectangle-shaped white cast iron Kohler sinks (ea about 14" wide x 12" deep--can't recall the model name). We have a corian countertop with single handle/single hole deck mount Hansgrohe faucets. Looks balanced & is easy to keep clean and would do it again. Katy, Thanks for the pic. Your vanity looks very practical. I want my cabinet to be semi-recessed, so that I'll gain the ~ 31/2" between studs we left room for (biggest advantage of DIY is being able to plan for all these things), AND grab a few extra inches, maybe another 3 1/2? to hang outside of wall so that shelves will be a really 'useful' 6" or so leaving some room for the door itself. I just got what you meant by your body swing, I was thinking sideways, but you mean backwards away from the counter...ahh! Do you think you would prefer 2 narrower doors to prevent that having to bend back, or if you had a free redo, would you stick with the single larger door? Keep in mind, my door will be even wider than yours. Williamsem, thanks for the reminder. I keep my meds in my night table beside the bed. Vitamins in pantry in kitchen. Amazing that we all managed to stay alive for the past half century with our meds in the wrong place! LOL Not sure what you mean by a lateral door hinge, but we are restricted by pendant lights on either side of door, Will have to make sure door (or doors) only open 90 degrees.

Can you mock up what the mirror and vanity will look like - use some painters tape to indicate where in the room the vanity will end and then outline the various choices of mirror/mirror cabinets. You might be surprised at how some work better than others. With the Kohler Verdera 101cm (40") by 76cm (30") medicine cabinet, it doesn't matter if it's 7" shorter than the sink - what matters is if you are using the sink to wash up, and you look up - are you able to see yourself properly in the mirror? IOW, is it functional.
