60' vanity. Double or single sink? And countertop help!

This is my first bathroom remodel, and it's only a guest bath. But I'm finding it very overwhelming. DH is able to do all the work, but it's just the choices that are killing me.

New 60" vanity will be going in. I'm not sure if we should make this a double sink or just keep it simple with a single sink. DH says he doesn't mind replumbing it for a double, but it's up to me.

Obviously a little cheaper going single, one sink and one faucet. I just can't make up my mind.

My other decision is.. I was thinking of doing a concrete countertop, but was worried about 2 sink cut outs and it being more risky with the 2 cut outs?

Can anyone give me their thoughts on this?

MO: Guest bath doesn't 'need' 2 sinks - I'd go with 1 sink. That will allow a sink base cabinet with another cabinet of drawers - DW likes a 3-drawer base cab in bathrooms.

Personally I think 60" is cramped for double sinks. I have small bathrooms too. I even took out the double sink in the master when I redid it. No harm, no foul. I like the look and feel of a single sink in an expanse of counter. (But if you have a longer counter by all means put in double sinks if you want.)

I'm putting two sinks into a 56" vanity for my girls' bathroom (4 girls share it). I'm installing Kohler Caxton, but can't decide whether to install the small or medium size. I noticed in the Kitchen-Bath store that on the medium Caxton, the granite over-hang was more than I would have expected for an undermount sink, especially at the upper drain hole edge. In effect is to give you a little more counter space. Plus, you couldn't see where the sink met the granite. That "line" was covered by the overhang. The bath shop gave me a pair of templates for each sized sink, I will figure out which works best. We are replacing these really ugly, whipped avacado looking cultured marble shell shaped sinks, which each measure 19" across. The Caxtons measure about 16.5 and 15 inches from side to side. Any change is a good one and will result in more counter space regardless of which sink size I choose.

- thanks for the reply pricklypearcactus. sadly with the area im in the local plumbing and bathroom shops all suck. ive visited more than a few with an attempt to get names of manufaturers and some literature on products but none was available. (on the flipside when i visited a few local lighting stores i was given all the information i could carry). - even still, id have figured even if someone didnt have the answer to my specific question they'd atleast have insight on the Lacava (or Paini) Brands. - i was leaning towards thinking ive probably done all the research and thats pretty much why no one is responding.......it's just be nice to get a reply or two to know for sure.

A few years ago we installed a 60" vanity with 2 undermount rectangle-shaped white cast iron Kohler sinks (ea about 14" wide x 12" deep--can't recall the model name). We have a corian countertop with single handle/single hole deck mount Hansgrohe faucets. Looks balanced & is easy to keep clean and would do it again. Good point Zookeeper63!. At the moment we all huddle in to the master bathroom while the kids shower together, and we all have a family teeth brushing session so it feels like we need the two sinks - one parent, one kid to a sink. You point out correctly that that will not likely be the case as they grow older, or if we have guests. The vanity we are choosing would either have two big drawers, or four drawers. I assume that this would be enough storage for extra things - hair dryers, toilet rolls, toothpastes, shampoos etc. But, if we go the single sink route, it gives us room to instead also have a tall cabinet which would add even more storage. In fact, with that, we could skip getting the Godmorgon (medicine cabinet style) mirror cabinets and just use the tall cabinet for storage. Good pointers Zookeeper63. I agree with both of the above posters - 1) 60" is a little small for 2 sinks, AND 2) since it's a guest bath, you don't need two. Personally, I'd get one really nice large sink, like the one pictured in the link below. This can be used as a drop-in rather than on a pedestal.

another vote for just one sink. My daughter's vanity is going to be 60" and I think it would be crammed w/ two sinks. Plus it will leave you more options in regards to drawers/storage underneath without that additional plumbing.

My vanity is 60" and I agree that 2 sinks would have ben cramped. I had the countertop fabricated with just one sink and have the full cabinet with 2 shelves on the left hand side (in the right hand cabinet the shelf needed to be cut out a bit to go around the plumbing).

Thanks for the thoughts guys, you have convinced me to just stay with a single sink. Honestly we will most likely barely if ever use this bathroom. I was mostly thinking of resale and people wanting a double sink in the guest bathroom for the other bedrooms. But from the sounds of it you guys don't think it's a big deal.

We are doing a 56" and doing one sink. Depending on your sink choices you might look for a larger then average sink size. Kohler makes some sq sinks, and others that are larger then the standard oval type sink.
I want to put a 30x36 mirror over this vanity and DH says that mirror is too small. (lights going over the top because of elect. mistake. (I was going to put on sides)
I think it will be about right. Any thoughts?? P.s. and I can't turn it to the 36x30 because it has a small trim on the bottom.
