Comments (6)Thanks Jules8 for your feedback. I'm not too picky about spotting. This will be a bathroom used daily. I am glad to hear that there isn't splashing. I will be using a single hole Hansgrohe faucet. Thanks for the info about the slope, and as you've indicated it seems too shallow. I have a limited space for the sink in my vanity and this one provides a lot of interior space within the confines of my cabinet. If I decide to get another sink I will have to call the cabinet maker to double check the tolerance I have. The look of this sink is really nice though and I probably will stay with it....See MoreIkea vanity - Godmorgon with non-Ikea sink
Comments (30)@Shelly Mac - I figured that you probably just were busy with “life” when you returned home - I didn’t want to bother you again re: measuring the space. I actually haven’t figured that part out yet! I do have the Godmorgon vanity in a box in my garage. I figured that I’d order two different sinks - and keep my fingers crossed that one of them worked! If you still have the measurement - I’d love if you’d post it. If not, I’ll figure it out eventually. After all, your linked directions had been more help than I would have expected to find! I think that I’m “over thinking” this whole process! My contractor is great - and I’m sure that he will know how to support the countertop. I just have a difficult time giving up “control“ in general. To be honest, I think he’s probably a bit “frustrated“ because of my micromanaging! He hasn‘t said anything (or acted as if he is) - but I think he’s used to receiving information regarding the general desired look - and then having quite a bit of flexibility with the design. In fact, that’s part of the reason my friend recommended him - she basically gave him a inspiration photo - and let him run with renovating her bathroom. It turned out very nice. But that’s not me - especially not after spending quite a bit of time reading through posts on Houzz! There are times I kinda wish I hadn‘t found Houzz - I never would have had to spend so much time selecting white ceiling/trim paint! FYI - looking at the photo of your master bathroom vanity, makes me wish I would have combined a few of the Godmorgon vanities to use in my master bathroom. I REALLY like the look of the the thicker countertop because of the mitered edge. It really makes a lot of sense to take the $$ saved by using the Godmorgon cabinets + custom doors vs. an entire custom made floating vanity - and use it towards a really nice looking (thick) countertop!...See More50/50 Double Bowl SS Undermount Sink for 30
Comments (12)You don't say what the sink is used for -- mostly prep, rinsing, and hand-washing a few dishes -or- do you wash all your dishes by hand? Who uses it the most -- you or your DH? Is it your only sink? If not and you use the other sink while your DH uses this sink, then get him what he wants. However, if it is your only sink and it needs to be used by you for prepping and your DH for cleaning up (or some combination), then I think more discussion is needed with your DH. Most people use their sinks for the former (prep, rinsing, hand-washing a few dishes). Double-bowl sinks in a cabinet less than 33" wide results in bowls too small for most work. Even with a wider sink base, it can be an issue if you go with equal-sized bowls. We had equal-size bowls in a 36" sink base and the bowls were too small to clean much and too big for small tasks such as soaking silverware. I hated that sink! If you must have a double-sink, then I strongly recommend you go with a double-bowl sink with unequal sizes. In our new Kitchen, we have a 36" wide sink base with 70/30 bowls: 21"W large bowl, 10"W small bowl. They're perfect! My DH does most of the cleanup and he uses the small bowl to soak silverware and prep/cooking utensils while he does a quick rinse of the other dishes b/f putting them in the DW in the large bowl. He also hand-washes the few dishes we don't put in the DW (e.g., knives and larger pots/pans). The small side is also useful for prepping & cooking. If you are stuck with a 30" sink base, then I strongly recommend going with a single-bowl sink. You can always use a basin for smaller items when needed. Normally, I'm in the 2-bowl camp, but only if the sink base is wide enough....See MoreUnder-mounted sink with Godmorgon
Comments (2)Well…of course you can do it--you can do almost anything if you're willing to take the trouble, but it seems to me pretty pointless to use godmorgon in this situation. You'll definitely lose the whole top drawer and may have to lose a good part of the bottom drawer, too, because of the plumbing. Godmorgon is very easy to adapt for vessel type sinks, but not so much for this. I'd honestly look for another brand that comes with an undermount sink already. This is going out of your way to make your life harder for less benefit. Personally, I wouldn't do godmorgon unless I was willing to use the ikea sinks meant for them. This look is popular enough that you should have plenty to choose from. Check out Duravit--they used to have a lot of vanities in this style, although I haven't looked lately....See MoreSusan Casper
