mid century mod outdoor lighting-input needed!!
Comments (31)Thanks, Lee and Erin! The doorknob is from Rejuvenation. You can find vintage ones on Ebay, but I took the easy way out and bought new. Once we got in on, I also had to buy the matching adorable starburst doorbell. How could I resist?! We replaced the door and it was really funny when I was getting quotes. Salespeople kept showing me the fancy doors with leaded glass and sidelights, carvings, etc., and I kept having to explain that no, all I want is a plain, flat door. Nothing fancy, nothing interesting. And no upgraded glass on the sidelights - just plain, flat panes of glass. I got some weird looks! Comments (3)I beg to differ the gray floors are fine with MCM but the espresso cabinets IMO don’t work at all. I would look into having them painted since I find most espresso cabinets are some god knows what wood underneath and a lot from China so paint would be my choice....See Morepaint brick and/or wood fireplace mid century
Comments (29)Well, I'm late chiming in but I'll put in my two cents worth anyway. DON'T paint the brick! We are restoring our 1947 ranch home and unfortunately the cool original brick FP surround was painted white many years ago. We could attempt stripping it, but I've heard many times how iffy that is with only so-so results. I wish the previous owners (had to be them, they'd owned the house for nearly 50 years) had not painted the brick. I guess I should thank my lucky stars they didn't paint the (half brick/half clapboard) exterior horizontal bricks!...See MoreNeed help on choosing exterior paint color for mid-mod house
Comments (20)Thank you @houssaon. We do love this house and have worked on restoring/renovating the interior and now we're moving to the exterior. The landscaping and new front entry steps are the next big project to begin this summer and we're very excited to have it feel more cohesive and appropriate for the house and lot. We have thought about adding a sidelight, but the front door is actually original to the house and has such amazing detailing. It's in great shape and we're hoping to keep it if we can. We'll paint it and see if we want a door with a sidelight - I love the one you posted. Thank you!...See Morekylebrowning47
