Thanks, Kudzu9. I knew it needed to hit the tub bottom and not the front wall of the tub, but I am not sure about how high to put the spout.

Here is a picture of mine; the end of the spout is about 2" above the rim and I still get splashback because the stream hits the inside of the tub about halfway down. And this is with a rather low-flow faucet:

That helps! I can see your tub is about 2-3" from the wall. The longest one I have found is the Ashlyn which is almost 8". The center of my tub drain is 10.5". I wonder why all the spouts are so short...

Mine is only a little bit over 6". I could have gotten a 9-1/2" model in the same series but I didn't because I thought what I picked was adequate. Unfortunately, the longer spout model needs a different in-wall valve, so I can't just swap spouts. If you go online to build.com and Search for "Roman tub filler wall mount" you should be able to find some that are longer than what you've come up with, though not necessarily by Delta. Good luck.

Thanks, I didn't think about looking for Roman tub fillers. I just looked at shower/tub combos. Does that mean separate parts being ordered instead of a set?

Build.com does not have any Delta roman tub fillers. Delta's website doesn't have any with shower head combo. The tub fillers only have hand showers. Some Kingston Brass were 9" long.

My tub goes straight down so that may help splash back.

Is there a specific reason you're wedded to using Delta? They're generally reliable, but so are a number of others. It does help that your tub goes straight down, but when the water pours out of any nozzle, there will be side spray of droplets from the tip of the spout, and the higher the spout is, the more of this you will get.

We have Delta for years because of their warranty. For example, when our Delta Trinsic started leaking at the handle, they sent us a new cartridge within 3 days. They also sent a new sprayer head and hose because the sprayer button was hard to push. No charge for anything. The directions they sent were easy to follow. All of the parts were free. The faucet was 6 years old at the time.

Two years later, I described a new slow leak coming from the top of the countertop or where connections go into the faucet. It did not leak every day, so we didn't know where the leak was. They sent me a brand new faucet when I emailed them asking for parts for an unknown leak. I received it within 5 days. You can't beat that service. Very few companies I have dealt with are so quick to fix problems, not without weeks of discussion and trying to get out of fixing anything.

There are several other reliable companies that have the same kind of warranties. The experiences you’ve had with Delta, I’ve had with Moen. Kohler also has a warranty equivalent to Delta. I’m sure there are others....

Thanks, Kudzu9. You are always very helpful. I called Jetta tubs today, and they said a spout shorter than 6" will have splashback, but 6" or 7" should be good. I will continue to look, but I think a 10" spout would get in the way. I know I will walk my knee on it. I have to remember that this is a seldom used hall bathroom.

This may be a silly question, but a few posts refer to "splashback" if the water stream hits the side of the tub/doesn't hit the bottom of the tub. Can someone precisely explain what "splashback" means? Is this water that splashes back up the side of the tub after traveling down the side of the tub, hitting the bottom, and then back up again? Or is it some part of the stream that simply bounces off the side and is forced upwards right away?

Not a silly question. When you have water forcefully hitting the inclined side of the tub high enough up, though most of it will splash downwards, some of it goes sideways, and some of it -- counterintuitively -- splashes back upwards from where it strikes the side and you can actually have a small puddle start to form on the floor in this area from water spray bouncing up and escaping this way. It the water doesn't hit the side of the tub, but only the bottom of the tub, it doesn't bounce high enough to do this.

@kudzu9 the problem I have is that I don’t really see the water hitting 8” from the top of the tub at a shallow angle and mailing it’s way 8” up to spill over.

I'm sure it depends on the specific tub, the force of the water, etc. Doubtless it's not a problem in some situations...just something to be aware of as a possibility.

I have this same problem, did anybody find a solution, as in a longer spout? My current spout is a deck mount 10" long, on a Jason spa, and it splashes back tons.

Just installed a Jetta Tub and have the same problem, looking for something that is 10" mount, pretty frustrating!

I have a 51 in stand alone tub arriving this week. How long of a water spout do I need? Being a small tub I planned to have a short faucet to ensure it wasn’t in the way. My new one is 6in but I’m afraid it’s too short?
