bedroom style advice? Minimalist/monochromatic. Pictures included

I am looking for advice - does this bedroom appear boring? And if so, how do I make it less “boring”. Currently the curtains and bed headboard are beige and nightstand/chest/drawers are black so trying to to figure out how to add some interest and warmth to the room but still keeping it looking simple/minimal. I dont want to add color necessarily but would love suggestions for particular patterns or textures that would go well here.

This is the master bedroom but its rather small as a space and this is the only position that works for the bed (hate that it’s against a window but nothing I can do about it)

dont have the budget to change furnature but any decor items are all fair game...

It’s not boring if you like Monochromatic design.

I would lower your 2 pieces of art (black frames), and look for some larger lamps that had some color in the base. Then use the same color family in your new rugs and for a throw for the bed.

You have a good start with wall color, drapes and bed. The room is lacking personality though. You can add color to bedding and decorative pillows or shams; something other then beige. The lamp appears cold and too short. How about a clock or other personal items on the nightstand? The 2 prints appear to be hung too high. Also I’m not sure why the drapery rods are so far out from the end of the windows and they are a bit short. The draperies are a nice contrast to the wall color though.

Believe it or not, decent looking ceiling fans exist. On every design show I've ever seen they're the first things to be thrown out, but I have them in every bedroom. Mmm slight draft at night without the sound of floor fan... I pspent no fewer than 18 weeks looking (off and on) for a "pretty" one to go in my master. I have lived with a 4 poster bed. My experience - unless you have really high ceilings, and I'm talking like 10 ft, and a sizeable room, it will turn your space into... tiny. Once upon a time in a previous life I thought I had a big bedroom until I put a poster bed in there. I like your computer nook. I always wanted a space like that, which I could separate from the rest of the room with some romantic drapery tied back. I might force that idea on my formal dining room. :) beds/headboards coverin ga window do bother me. I don't like anything to cover a window (couch, table, or otherwise) -- but that's just me. And if it came down to a queen bed, or covering that window, sure - the window would get covered! We have single panels on our two bedroom windows, mostly because they're skinny and it looked silly to me to have two panels. If you need to cover the window, something that seems to help (at least when I've seen it done) is to pull the bed away from the wall a foot or so. Then you can go with two panels, and it looks kind of intentional instead of "didn't have space." Something else to keep in mind with blocking windows -- does the sun come directly in such that it would fade your bedding over time?

I think it is based upon an object at Mount Vernon and not a room color. If you read the description of the fandeck, you can kind of tell which colors are room colors and which are "inspired by" colors. The room colors are mostly greens or blue-greens with white trim or white with green or blue-green trim, it seems. Actually I think you arrived at these three (or five, including the Burnt Umber and Inkwell) by a certain process of elimination of what was going on in other rooms and by wanting a saturated color. That leaves Blue, Red or Yellow as the primaries and you used a Dark Blue elsewhere, --or Green or a Neutral which is Brown or Black. I don't think you want a chrome yellow bedroom, or hazard orange bedroom so you are considering all the reasonable options available.

That TrueGroove lighting looks awesome. I'm guessing it is a good way to do cove lighting if you don't have high ceilings and need to have your crown go right to your ceiling. Other bedroom ideas include, lamps on the end tables (or you can consider hanging pendants over the end tables instead). You can also add LED pin lamp/sconces right beside the head board so one person can read (using a fine directed lamp) and other partner can sleep. Besides, lamps, side sconces or hanging pendants are hard to get at the right height and position for reading. Lighting over end tables is still nice ambient light. Some people enjoy backlighting behind the headboard to accent the bed with soft light. I like using directional can lights to bounce indirect light off the closets (especially effective if closets are painted white). I don't like can lights that are directed at floors, and would re-position some of yours. The 2 inch small LED lights are going to add up. Perhaps you want to consider a pair of sconces somewhere? I am not a fan of ceiling fans, but maybe you need them in your climate. I prefer a nice blingly, decorative ceilng light that is rated as an ambient, or uplight inot down light). You could also consider a few low wall uplights (WAC brand I think) to be used as a soft night light switched on near bed (have a few in master bath as well). Consider having a light switch on either side of the bed to turn lights off after getting in bed. Carol

I was not deliberately going for monochromatic but we just cant find anything we like thats not neutral or black and white. So I guess that’s what we gravitate towards...always loved the minimalistic design but want to make this more inviting, more personal...

would a white with black pattern duvet cover and shams work well here? Or should we do white but textured?

The artwork is black and white but we really like these prints. Do they all need to be moved lower? There are three prints by the way, not 2, the last one is over dresser.

The three prints need to form a vignette with the black chest, so move them to that wall and hang two of them side by side 5" above the chest with the 3rd one centered above them. Use about one hand's breadth to determine how far apart. Instead of the two little rugs, shop for a larger one to slip under the bottom 1/3 - 1/2 of the bed. Your lamps are too petite. Once they're on the bedside tables they should arrive somewhere between 58-64" from the floor. That may vary with your headboard, so measure where that lands as well. Your curtains are too short, but you can simply lower the rods so they kiss the floor. I don't care for the little stool and would prefer a bench under the window or at the end of the bed if you have room.

thank you! Love that picture. Very much the style I would go for - but our bedroom is too small to put any sort of additional seating like a bench - that's why we added that small chair/pouf at the corner.
