Floral arrangement or rocket ship?
Comments (39)Hello! I am back after a busy week. Sorry I have not posted earlier with the results of my "renovated" arrangement. First of all, I am keeping the garland because ... I like it! :) It really doesn't look as bad as it does in photos and without it, the runner looks stark. I suppose I could put down my burgundy runner (I use it at Christmas,) however it will all be coming off the table in two weeks, anyway. Secondly, I will be removing the arrangement when we eat, and Les, I love your idea for the cake plate, candles and gourds. That will be perfect! I did take out the grass, then realized that they were needed for fill-in, so I placed them up higher in the floral stems to have a more natural look. After looking at the new photos, I realize that all the pom poms are facing the front, so I will move one to the back. The twigs are not showing up as well with the flash. OK, here is the new and improved arrangement. Better? HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!!...See MoreDesign Faux Pas at entry? Need input and critique!!
Comments (17)Chisue, The walkway width is 3.5ft, we considered making it 5ft wide but now we are thinking that 3.5ft will do. Stairs are also 3.5ft wide. Ours is a ~2200 sqft house, 2 stories, with first level footprint of ~1150 sqft, and I think at this proportion we do not need 5ft width (any thoughts?). JDS, Currently my idea is to have a bench or floating shelf like in the image I am attaching here. If not then we will keep a small stool there. The closet will hide the shelves for shoes....See MoreNeed help with lighting and decorating a tiny entry way!
Comments (18)Looks good as is. Wouldn't clutter it up ... but you might consider small Tiffany style stained glass sun catchers (that attach to the small windows with suction cups) if you find some you particularly like. https://www.google.com/search?q=Tiffany+style+suncatchers&client=firefox-b-1-d&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiKg5u24eXoAhWnTN8KHSnCDkAQ_AUoAnoECAwQBA&biw=1366&bih=654 Suspect the space may be so narrow that framed art on the wall gets bumped. Measure carefully before deciding. Depending upon the pattern, wallpaper could end up just making a calm space just look "busy" without adding interest to the space. If you like nature scene murals, you might consider visually "enlarging" your space with one of those on the plain wall just before you go down the steps. https://www.google.com/search?q=murals+of+nature+paths&client=firefox-b-1-d&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwij672S4uXoAhUpnOAKHRnJBQQQ_AUoAXoECAsQAw&biw=1366&bih=654...See MoreHelp on designing the entry way walls .
Comments (18)Here are some pictures. I measured the walls . They are pretty much the same lenghth wise. i have the round mirror at the fireplace side and hence dont want to keep another mirror on the walls. Plus I don't need a seat / ledge / storage space etc, as we use our garage mostly for in and out. We use this entrance mostly for guest access . But I do want to make this space appealing for the eyes, as it very close to our living space the couch. We are kind of very happy with the living space but i am unsure of the entrance space, wall art , rug etc. I am only looking to beautify the space ,as primary function :) and it's important to me. I would have loved to create a grand rug entry space but i am afraid there is not much space between couch area and door entrance. It's just a few steps away.. I would like to infact remove anything that i have currently in the entrace space / move it around with your inputs. PS - we recently bought the rug for the blue couch, so I am afraid I cant change it just yet. Thank you...See MoreJulia McCurley
