Need help with living room design- ACCENT CHAIRS

Hello, We'd like to purchase a chair (or 2) for the living room. Comfort is important. Any ideas out there for style/color? Or should we just buy the matching arm chair to our current leather sofa? The current sofa is very dark so adding the matching chair might(?) be a lot of dark furniture; however we have a toddler and a dog so we have to keep that in consideration. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

I wouldn't get a chair from the same set as your couch. An accent chair is a great opportunity to add another aspect of your design sense into the room.

I would do a light colored, performance fabric chair like this one:

I would check out their website cause they have so many options to customize their chairs and have pet/kid friendly fabric options, including different leg styles.

A natural colored performance fabric chair. You don't want a sea of dark leather. The space is tight so you will have to be very mindful of scale and size. I would not choose something with a bulky arm as it is going to take up visual space and make the room feel cramped. Is the TV console on the left staying where it is? What does the other side of your room look like? I would like to see if there is any opportunity for a better layout.

This is a beautiful, charming home. If you start in the living room, you would first decide what would be the focal point -- which is obviously the fireplace. So your seating would center around it. The opposite side of the room could be used for additional seating. Leave the arch as is. It is integral to the architecture of the house. Remove the wallpaper -- and I would absolutely paint both rooms the same. You have a lot of ideas and I would suggest you first do electrical update, install new windows. I would also recommend that if you replace one window, you do them all the same. Otherwise, your new home will look disjointed and it will effect the value of your property. Sometimes one can be overwhelmed thinking everything has to be done now. Take your time and enjoy your beautiful new home.

I would get an upholstered chair with an ottoman, something like a club chair unless you want to go more traditional and get a wing chair. For sure, please don’t buy it on-line. Please buy something you have sat in and ideally something you have been able to look at its construction, turned upside down, etc. You might be able to score a second hand chair in excellent condition from someone going into an elder facility.

Valspar has identified coordinates for Pale Bloom. Choose one of the darker colors for the stair wall. Be aware that the wall and your kitchen cabinets are going to abut visually, so choose both colors carefully. Hi Ayana - I've not personally dealt with ledgestone. But I've seen some pictures of installations with a pre-manufactured product that shows regular block-sized seams. The seams killed the whole effect. I don't know if that means the installer didn't do a good job or the product was a cheap knock-off. Before deciding on a product and installer, I would ask to see an example installation. A blank slate can be intimidating! It's helpful to have an overall picture of where you're headed. (The same is true for me!) So let's assume that you like the whole look of the inspiration photo you shared. The non-accent walls are white - crisp, clean, and set off the subtle coral-reef like pallet of the rest of the space. All things being equal, the accent wall could be several other colors and textures. These might be things you could consider for your space: They could have created a wall unit in the medium wood tone of the trestle framing above and the low cabinets along the wall. Bamboo could give an interesting texture and warmth to the space. A wall unit could include a fireplace (electric), TV, display shelves, and bookshelves. They could have pulled the pea green from the chairs onto the accent wall as a paint color and created just the fireplace in maybe a limestone or soapstone. In that case, they might have used large art on the walls rather than shelves. They could have used a grasscloth wallpaper in a similar offwhite color to the ledgestone. (Talk about outdated! But I just put some in my bedroom.) There again, the fireplace bumpout might want to be a different material. Hopefully that gives you a few ideas you can jump off of! Best of luck - Doug

If you have a toddler, please consider an ottoman style for your coffee table. Best option for children + fashion forward.

If you really prefer wood, rounded shapes are better. No sharp corners.

Sinbrealla makes some nic indoor fabric that stands up very well and IMO you really only have space for one chair so do a fabric chair with an ottoman BTW all the windows should have the same coverings and how do you watch TV since nothing faces the TV Could you post a to scale floor plan that would also make it easier to see what other pieces might fit.

Design Interior South- TV console likely has to stay because that's the cable connection at that wall and it would block the window on opposite side; I don't think there's another option(?). The room is a half hexagon shape w/ open kitchen on the other half.
