Need help with an odd accent wall in open dining/living room

My house has an odd sort of open living and dining room. The stairs are just inside the entry so the outside of the staircase wall creates the entry walkway. The previous owners had it and the dining room window wall painted a sort of dark pinky terra cotta. I don't care for the color so I planned to just paint that wall and the living room the same color (Valspar Pale Bloom). Well now I've primed the staircase part of the way and realize the wall feels way, way too close as a light color. So I want to keep an accent wall but a very different color, dark enough to make it feel farther away but still works with the lighter living room. I've never done that for a space like this before. Looking for some suggestions!I've been described as "eclectic" but I am trying very hard to keep a sense of flow and cohesiveness in my home. My kitchen cabinets will be repainted a dark espresso color. The picture is the wall as seen from the living room and the front door is to the left. Thanks!
